8 years ago As long as your RX light is going with the music, you should be okay on the PC-side of things. Here's a couple things to doublecheck:
- Did the Arduino code upload successfully? (The Arduino IDE is very quiet about errors; make sure you're seeing a success message at the bottom of the IDE)
- Have you connected a ground pin (either one of the odd-numbered pins from the ribbon cable, or the ground from the power pins) from the floppy to the GND pin on the Arduino?
- You said that when you wiggle the pins, you do see the drive move, which seems to indicate things are mostly working well... maybe make sure the connection is nice and solid between the wires and the Arduino (if you put a very slight bend in the end of the wire that you stick into the Arduino pin, it tends to stay in place a little better)
The whole process went flawlessly, when I got to the Arduino code, I ran it and it reset the head without a problem, I run the Java code and it opens the window as expected. I select 1 Moppy, load a song, connect and start and... Nothing happens. The RX LED is flashing correctly to the music, but the drive head is not moving. When I sort of wiggle the cables in any Digital pins, they move, but in a seemingly random manner. When they are just plugged to 2 and 3, nothing is happening, except the RX LED blinking.
EDIT 1: Actually when compiling in NetBeans, it says this:

It still however runs the Control Application
EDIT 2: I didn't download the RXTX thing as is stated at the start of the tutorial. Just to clarify.
