Might be cool to have smart / conditional-based volume. The ultimate laziness automation.
If I am home all by myself, the volume can be louder since it's not bothering anybody else in the apartment.
If people are home, and the door is closed, volume can be a bit louder than if the door was opened.
If the windows are open, lower the volume so that it does not annoy the neighbors. Then when the windows are closed, it can be raised again automatically.
If the window air condition unit is running, increase the volume of devices in the same room to compensate for all the extra noise.
Set default volume levels for each Harmony activity. This can be done in Harmony itself but I'd rather have all the logic inside HA so it's easier to update.
I can take this one step further and have certain volume adjustments when different apps or games are launched by checking the media_title attribute. The ESPN+ app on Apple TV always requires me to crank up the volume real high compared to other apps, this can take care of that.
Also set volumes based on my phase of day sensor. Already doing this with Google Homes, but expand this to other devices and Harmony activities.
If a TTS is playing, lower or mute other devices in the room while it's playing so that it can be heard.
Not really sure if this is worth the effort, just some ideas for now.
