I keep having to re-mark as read, multiple feeds [2.25.0 - 2.25.2] #228

Just now after doing my initial manual synch/updates of the new day, i received 21 "new" feed items. Disappointingly 15 of them were not new at all, being ones from previous days, & for some of these now was even third time i've had to again mark them as read.

Why is this happening? Tbh, it's pretty exasperating.

Ever since 2.25.0, i've kept both SmartRSS & Feedbro enabled alongside each other, so i can keep "reality checking" SmartRSS. Feedbro is not doing these shenanigans, by which i mean that the actual feed materials themselves IMO are not being genuinely edited upstream by their authors & hence become "genuinely" new again. It just seems to me like this must be some persistent bug in SmartRSS.

Similar issue is happening to me as well. Articles are automatically marked as read after restart the browser.

reproduce the issue:

  1. update feeds
  2. now having some new articles, restart browser
  3. new articles are gone, but update feeds again will make them reappear

maybe a solution?

  1. update feeds
  2. mark new articles read, then mark them unread
  3. restart browser, everything is fine now🤔

The issue also occurs in Firefox 115.0.2 (64 bit) with Smart RSS 2.25.2 for the https://rss.nebula.app/video/channels/notjustbikes.rss feed. The following articles consistently re-appear as unread while updating all articles:

Steps to reproduce

  1. Install Firefox 115.0.2 (64 bit)
  2. Install the Smart RSS 2.25.2 extension
  3. Add the feed: https://rss.nebula.app/video/channels/notjustbikes.rss
  4. Update the feed list
  5. Mark all the items as read
  6. Wait 10 minutes to 1 hour
  7. Update the feed list
  8. Observe the notjustbikes.rss

Observed result: 1-3 articles previously marked as read re-appear. Expected result: Only new articles appear in the feed list. Reproduction rate: 7/10

Attaching exported settings. I may provide full feed list via a private message, if needed. settings_bug228.3.txt

some feeds are pretty quirky and working around that is a pain, I probably won't be able to take a look at this in a foreseeable future, I'm sorry
