Suggestion : Flurry of Blasts #14

Hello again²

Playing as of now with a full aether kineticist through Inevitable Excess to test it with different difficulty settings.

With Foe Throw and Many Throw it's quite efficient when there are multiple foes (as I already said, with Force it would be on par with Angel, Lich or others... ok I'll stop there!).

Disintegrating blast is also nice but is, alone, of limited use against a boss or really any foe with high Fort save. In general Kineticist is sadly subpar when compared with any archer build...

I know it's not the easiest infusion but would it be possible/useful to implement the Furry of Blasts infusion?

I think it's a nice addition for fights with only one enemy (or a few that would inevitably resist Foe Throw).

To make it simple there would be no issue with limiting it to a single target (there are other, and arguably better, multitarget infusions). In this case, and if I'm not mistaken (hoping I'm not using it wrong in TT...) that would be :

With haste (if can be implemented) = + 1 blast to a maximum of 6 (the last would deal B+5d6) and -5 save penalty/CMD.

Only one save check for any substance infusion but I guess, if the penalty to save/CMD can also be implemented that would be allow more use of substance infusions like blinding and such (since as of now it's really easier to boost Tripping or Pushing...)

Since this infusion is usable with every elements it could be all the more nice to add (and, if coupled with disintegrate that could be awesome, but a perhaps a nightmare to code :p)

Definitely a lovely idea to add Flurry of Blasts, and anything coming from the 'monk' idea is stuff I love, but

Flurry of Blasts is kinda awful for single target however, and is more meant for spreading out substance infusion effects

The first hit does 1st level blast damage (1d6 or 1d6+1 or 2d6 (composite) or 2d6+2) and every other hit adds (1d6) damage, not a stacking damage increase (I'm sad about it too)

The idea is to either get a bunch of lads grappled or something, or present a bigger DC to the big bad

Still going to try and add it, but it might take some time

Well I, only now, did read all the fuss about the actual wording of the infusion, and am really sad about the result ...

On the bright side, I did sell it to my GM as such quite some time !

I guess that the point is simply to use metakinesis if you wanna deal more damage.

Side note : I asked Truinto for adding Venom infusion to the DarkCodex, it could help with the DC issue (if you want to do it yourself since it's a universal infusion link to Dark Codex topic

One thing to note, if you're worried about single target damage Even though there is a fort save, disintegrate can do tons of damage, especially now as I got it working with metamagic and all non-aoe infusions So a maximised empowered touch attack with a base 24d6 damage (so 144+12d6) is a lot, and even quartered is respectable Or hitting 2-3 disintegrate kinetic blades

But yeah, there are a lot of things to slowly add

Oh you are perfectly right. And if metakinesis works with disintegrate it's really nice !(but which form infusions are non AoE except blade?)

For one I personally really don't like close combat, and the full attack blade blast seems really like an exploit to me when one cannot do even a fraction from range (which is the basic blast point), hence why I liked my, faulted, reading of flurry of blasts ! (Which could be on par with WotR archer builds). And yes there are so many options ! I hope venom infusion will make it, the penalty it can give is not regularly used among all abilities, and not that strong since there are a number of goes that are immuned

Speaking of the venom infusion, Truinto, in this topic, can allow his new infusions to work with your new blasts but need the GUID.

It's fine. I already found them. They weren't locked behind a nexus account ;)
