Essentially this is the idea we currently have for Multi-KOTH wars, where claims are divided into sectors that the attacking leader can target, slowly taking over their land over time.
I also love the idea of a "last stand" - I think maybe changing some mechanics in the last few claims to maybe make it a little more difficult for the attacking side could keep the war fresh and interesting, giving the defence a chance to bounce back.
With siege points, attackers must take cities parts at a time, pushing deeper and deeper into the city, and eventually to one spot, which would be a “final stand” for defenders. It’s unrealistic for a side to rack up 20-30 points in a battle and only be capping on the side of the claim. With siege points, attackers would have to have control over a set area in the claim as well as more points more it to be considered a win. Just imagine what wars can be like with these; 30-40 attackers holding off defenders as they cap behind their lines, pushing farther and farther into a claim. As I mentioned before, wars are pretty flat (not necessarily boring) without an objective other than getting points. Combining siege points with a lower cap block time could lead to very exciting, fast paced battles that could go very back and forth between sides, especially with caps giving zero points when being blown up.
when siege points were in wars before, some of the best battles came out of it. Sure, the meta was different back then, but those wars had more objectives than modern day wars, which have seemed to have just devolved into using just cap points.
that’s all I got on that.
