Favero Assioma Powermeter/Cadence sensor does not connect (BT) #135

Open zett42 opened 3 years ago

zett42 commented 3 years ago

Since recent times the sensor often does not connect when pressing the record button. The sensor icon is red and the cadence field doesn't show anything. The power field looks like calculated values.

As a workaround I have to remove the sensor from the profile and add it back again.

What can I do to help debugging the issue?

I think it is a bug from the last version. I also have to remove/add my cadence sensor to be conected.

We're unable to reproduce this issue, so at this time can't tell if it's something we can fix or not. Which phone models are you using @zett42 and @radiotbo? How long do you wait for the sensor to connect? Sometimes it can take as long as 1 minute, due to various conditions unrelated to the app itself.

There's one thing you can try: Instead of removing/re-adding the sensor, simply slide to the left on the Sensors screen (or click the Scan button at the top) to start the sensor scanning process. Wait a few seconds, slide back, and see if the sensor will get connected now. If yes, repeat this several more times to be able to say it's a rule, not a quirk. If this proves to be a rule, it would indicate a peculiarity with some Androids and we should (be able to) handle this as a special case in the app.

Thanks for the feedback!

Phone is LG G7 with Android 10.

I've waited as long as 10 minutes for the sensor to connect (while riding). When the sensor does connect, it usually only needs a few seconds to do so.

Will try the suggested sensor scanning method the next time the issue occurs.

The suggested workaround did work today to connect the sensor. I stayed on the scan screen for like 15 s. After going back, the sensor icon showed green. I did not have to stop recording while doing this.

I will keep you updated whether this works consistently.

Hi, does this now work without the workaround in the v6.03 (or later)?

zett42 commented 3 years ago

Seems to work in v6.03. I didn't have to use the workaround since some time.
