Hello.

First of all: Visual studio and source code of TVPFwd is definitely not for you. Use already compiled TVPFwd.exe file.

Second thing: don't be lazy, read all posts in this thread. On Oct 4, 2018 11:19 PM, "valex910" notifications@github.com wrote:

I really dont know how to setup DNS settings to point to my PC , i only have 3 Routers , 1 WRT54G , 1 Amped RTA15 , and a Bell Hub 3000 .

what would you recommend , a managed swith , router ect to be able to set that up

nezmogus commented 5 years ago

You can prepare your own dns server, an example, on temproray virtual machine (i can't help you with that. You can use windows server for that or pfsense. Google). Then set dns patch on it and then set this virtual machine ip address as primary dns server on your curent router. After that at least reboot IP150.

Then IP150 should receive your DNS server ip from your routers DHCP server, and your DNS server then will point your IP150 to your computer On Oct 19, 2018 12:11 AM, "svalour" notifications@github.com wrote:

I manage to buy a Mikrotik router but I dont know how to integrate the router to my lan without any issues If someone who has used a Mikrotik router can help me out , to set it up Thanks

jjmhiram commented 5 years ago

I was not able to update my firmware using a router: It Always stopped after downloading some packets due in my opinion to a slow speed on the laptop I was using with an asus router behind my internet box in router mode ( I did not want to change my network configuration and the box was not allowing the dns redirection). So as recommended by nezmogus i used simple dns on my main computer without additional router and everything was solved and I am now back to 1.32 firmware but with 2.13 bootloader. So I used the trick 👍 While unit is online, hold reset for 5 seconds (io 2 will start flashing), raise it for a second then do a short push again. Unit will reboot. Now no download of updates after diconnecting the rs232 cable Thank Nezmogus and yozik04

I read through this read and shipping in the same boat: want to downgrade from 4.30 to 1.32 on my IP150 modul. I followed all the clear steps but I'm stucked:

d:\Downloads\Live>TVPfwd.exe 192.168.28.222 10000 174.129.161.40 10000 IP150_V1_32_001_ENG_downgrade_from_v4.xx.PuF Packet: 1 of 448 Packet: 1 of 448

After the first packet it stops and nothing happens. What I can confirm:

The reason is why I use 174.129.161.40 IP: Pinging upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com [174.129.161.40] with 32 bytes of data (of course before DNS redirect)

For nslookup 54.165.77.37 I get the following: Name: ec2-54-165-77-37.compute-1.amazonaws.com Address: 54.165.77.37

By the way I checked http://174.129.161.40/_myIP150serialnumber_ where see: filename "IP150_LATEST.PUF"

Finally downgraded. thank a lot nezmogus.

Used DNS server on my windows server 2012 with a forward zone upgrade.insight.... to my desktop and configured my router to give all the clients only my private DNS server IP(windows server 2012).

Little problem is that under IP150 webi I can't access this funcitons anymore:

I really appreciate Nezmogus' valuable hours to investigate my problem with Win10. I can't believe that I had to go back to Win7 in 2018. But the lesson learn to me that we don't have to bury Win7 :)

Only one small pain remained which mentioned here in Nezmogus' post:

"After IP150 firmware downgrade and module power cycle (or using reset.html), firmware update process starts automatically."

My experience is the following:

  1. If you remove IP150 serial cable from board it does power cycle and start firmware update process automatically
  2. I you remove network cable or restart network device in which IP150 connected does the same: start firmware update process automatically

I don't know my 2nd point is valid because IP150 is set to DHCP (I do IP reservation by MAC address in my router) or because of something else. Can anyone confirm the same about my point after downgrade? I assume the standard DHCP IP request from IP150 result the same when doing #1.

So the only disadvantage with this downgrade that it won't fix the bootloader which almost always (in case of network interface restart or power cycle) check for new firmware in the internet. If it fails then IP150 get into hung state. It is also clearly written by Nezmogus and no offense against him because he did a great job to somehow get back IP150 functionalities.

My only problem with above is that my security system will not autonomous and remotely monitored after a power outage. Of course the internal battery can help but after a longer utility outage it will stand up but IP150 will not be available. The same situation will happen if there just a short power blip and network switch/router rebooting (I know UPS usage can also help in this case).

So I just hope somehow bootloader can be also permanently fixed. If not I have to think on buying new IP150S :-( damn, Paradox!

I read that and if I understand correctly: your IP150 don't want to go to internet anymore to check latest firmware? After power cycle and/or network restart it will be available with firmware version 1.32?

My DNS redirect is still active but my "fake" upgrade.insightgoldphm.com" is not on network. Do you think this status is okay to start your reset procedure?

Yes, after downgrade and reset fw should stay 1.32. No more automatic updates from internet in any case. Then you can remove DNS patch. On Nov 3, 2018 11:57 PM, "blackmatee" notifications@github.com wrote:

Don't worry about DNS when your IP150 is downgraded and working, do reset procedure and everything should be fine

benalexau commented 5 years ago

Thanks for these steps. I can confirm successful downgrade to 1.32.001 (bootloader remains 2.14.000).

I did not need to use the In-Field tool to perform any part of the downgrade nor use the "reset.html" suffix. Instead I just changing the DNS to point to the proxy, then held down the reset pin while reconnecting power to the IP150. After the upgrade was verified in BabyWare I performed a further IP150 reset pin and the bootloader did not attempt further image downloads. A final check of downgrade persistence beyond cold restart of the panel (including backup battery) was then performed.

DNS logging showed upgr.insightgoldatpmh.com was being used by the panel, so I added a DNS entry to point that host at the proxy.

benalexau commented 5 years ago

More information for those who run locked-down egress firewalls and may have noticed the IP150 fails to register with alarm monitoring companies after completing the above changes....

It appears the IP150 with firmware 1.32.001 (bootloader 2.14.000) attempts to perform DNS queries against a range of public DNS servers (specifically 208.67.220.222, 208.67.222.220, 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2, 4.2.2.3, 4.2.2.4, 4.2.2.5, 4.2.2.6, 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8).

At the firewall I transparently rewrote these packets to a local DNS server and logged queries for a few hours. All DNS queries observed in that time were for www.paradox.com, and it appears resolution of these queries is required for the IP150 to attempt monitoring company registration.

I have retained the firewall DNS packet rewriting and now have my local DNS server resolve all of the following to 127.0.0.1: upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com, upgr.insightgoldatpmh.com and api.insightgoldatpmh.com.

The above configuration has allowed alarm monitoring company registration and has also been confirmed to work with the PCS260 module (after repairing a faulty serial cable).

Basic principles how to use MikroTik for IP150 downgrade: image First MikroTik port by default is for internet cable conenction

Connect to MikroTik using WinBox and set static DNS:

It’s exactly what I am doing , I forgot to use the wan port to connect to my main router , I will try this later Thank you so much , will keep you posted

svalour commented 5 years ago

No I connect everything the way you show on the drawing and still dont see any activity in the file , if I telnet to upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com 10000 , I get connected and able to type characters and its reflected in the log file , unless its trying on another .com link , I have put in the 3 links mentioned in the post upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com, upgr.insightgoldatpmh.com and api.insightgoldatpmh.com. pointing to my pc in the DNS in the Mikrotik router. still no success :( any ideas ?

I can't help you until you provide much more details about what are you doing. On Nov 8, 2018 1:31 AM, "svalour" notifications@github.com wrote:

ok I just realise that its the apps that's trying to reach this DNS api.insightgoldatpmh.com I have removed the DNS and I dont see these retransmission any more , but seems that I dont see any traffic on the other 2 DNS that I have setup upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com and upgr.insightgoldatpmh.com

You are providing worthless information and this is why you are not getting any help. Please, stop wasting your time, read instructions, and do it carefully.

benalexau commented 5 years ago

The bootloader does not contact api.insightgoldatpmh.com in my experience, so if you are seeing this it means the IP150 is running the new firmware and the bootloader is not going to fetch new firmware from your firmware proxy server.

It appears you have setup DNS resolution correctly to the firmware proxy server if you are able to telnet to upgrade.insightgoldatpmh.com 10000 and see output in the firmware proxy server console. However can you also try telnet to upgr.insightgoldatpmh.com 10000) and also try this from a different machine on your network (to ensure other machines on your network are not being blocked by a Windows firewall or similar). As an aside one stumbling block I had was the firmware proxy server was being blocked from accessing the true firmware server on the internet due to my egress firewall rules. But that was easily discovered as the firmware proxy server would crash with an error as soon as the firmware downloaded started.

After ensuring the firewall proxy server is accessible from other machines (as described in the prior paragraph), you need to kick off the downgrade process. The way I did that was to physically power off the panel and disconnect the battery. Then hold a pin into the "reset" hole on the IP150 while reapplying panel power, wait for the lights, then release and reapply the pin. See the video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XKDGpsIkzzQ for a proper description. If you do this you should see the firewall proxy server receive traffic and downgrade.

If none of this works, please advise what the IP150 is reporting as its bootloader version and software version. Something else may have changed.

I've been reading through all these post (multiple times) and I've been playing around, but one thing that is not clear to me:

Do I need a specific IP150_V1_32_001_ENG_downgrade_from_v4.xx.PuF file downloaded from somewhere or do I need to rename the IP150_V1_32_001_ENG.PuF file to IP150_V1_32_001_ENG_downgrade_from_v4.xx.PuF?

In In-Field, the Firmware line is always greyed out with latest.puf (or something similar in there). I cannot browse for another file.

If I've missed a post with the required information, I apologize. Or else, I'd really appreciate some guidance. Thank you.

IP150 will not accept any downgrade firmware files except file from this post: https://github.com/Tertiush/ParadoxIP150v2/issues/22#issuecomment-403752079

jakezp commented 5 years ago

Thank you! I have no idea how I missed that file link! Apologies... Using this correct file allowed the update to pass first time! I could have saved myself hours!

From the web console: Firmware version 1.32.01

:)

Thanks...

You welcome ;) GitHib hides some posts until you click on link to unhide them. This can explain why you missed some information...

Slightly offtopic - @Tertiush do you perhaps have some docs on control via serial protocol? I have a readonly version consuming events via serial directly (based on this doc https://harizanov.com/2014/07/interfacing-with-paradox-home-security-system-attempt-2/) , but would like to add some kind of control. AFAIK I've looked at the forks but could not find one that uses serial directly.

yozik04 commented 5 years ago

https://github.com/jpbarraca/pai/ can use only serial connection.
