Error on Installing on Windows 10 #33

I get "Missing Shortcut" error after downloading the .exe installer for 1.2.5 and double clicking it. A screenshot of the error message is attached. missing_ove

@0xpsi hmm something must have gone wrong in the build. I'll try to release again and see if it works.

@0xpsi I'll ask a coworker if it is working for them.. not sure what's gone wrong here..?

@christopher-lamkin can you please try out installing one of those versions on your windows machine?

Have the same error reported by 0xpsi. I even tried the earlier versions, which show similar error. I am currently trying to run it on windows 10 x64. Kindly help.

@0xpsi @saisudhir108 I finally went ahead and got a windows machine so I should hopefully be able to troubleshoot a lot of these windows specific issues! I'll hopefully be able to work on this one and others over the next few days. Sorry about the headache right now!

My five cents on that:

I had a lot of trouble getting OVE on my work machine (windows 10 pro) but no problem with my home machine (Windows 10 home edition). I think it boils down to a security problem. Our work environment s very secure.

To be precise, on my work machine, -I can install v1.1, but it gets removed at every reboot :| I have to reistall at afresh. -I cannot install any subsequent version: I get the same error as above.

I am happy to try troubleshoot these issues as I have both a machine that works and one that doesn't.

@Benjou and others I'm in the process of submitting OVE to the windows app store so hopefully you'll be able to get it as an official windows package soon.

I came to the same conclusion as you @Benjou that the install issues I was seeing was due to security issues.

It just made it onto there

@tnrich I do not have microsoft store on my work computer due to IT policies in my college but managed to download the appx and install it via powershell. I can confirm that it is working. Thanks for your help and support.

If I may make a request: Please include more features into it like various cloning simulations, Gibson, Goldengate and others.
