my bold suggestion is to try and see how it looks if the animation and hit is sort of decoupled. like the hit occurs more or less right away and the animation (sped up enough) just goes on its own
ive seen game animation tips that say to have your hit come as early as you can so the player can get immediate feedback and just have the animation run on its own
or maybe analyze frame by frame how lttp works with its sword?
