Good work on your dashboard! I enjoyed using it! Here is my feedback:
Mechanics: Overall mechanics look great, team members are communicating through issues, using pull requests, and commit messages are mostly informative. Some commit messages that just say "update ____" could be more informative.
App: The bar plot of the top 50 most productive directors in each field is very clear. The tool tips on line plots to show the movie and its attributes is a useful interactive element. The text is very clear and the plots are well-labelled. Here are a few suggestions:
The interactive component of clicking the bar graph to show the director in the right plots is great, however it’s not obvious how to do this without reading the README file. This feature should be made more clear in the app text, or have a default selected to start rather than all of the directors selected (which I see that you mentioned in your reflection). Just make sure it’s obvious for the user on how to interact with the graphs.
It would be good to make it more obvious that the user can select multiple directors by clicking shift, as this is an important feature.
I’m a bit confused about the data set, do some of the movies in different categories overlap? Such as romantic comedy, comedy and black comedy?
Reflections: The reflection covers the strengths and weaknesses of the dashboard, as well as the feedback given. I suggest organizing this reflection into sections based on this, as it makes it easier to follow. The app says top 30 directors but the reflection still says top 50.
