Info

Name: Iceland

Source URL: http://en.ni.is/geology/geological-maps/maps-geology-600000

Estimated scale: Small/Medium

Number of bedrock polygons: Geology: 3663, Age: 982

Lithology field: Lithology

Time field: Age

Stratigraphy name field: Name

Description field:

Comments field: OrigName (name that was given to each code - some are formations, some are time periods, but here I kept it in Icelandic)

Comments: The IcelandGeology shapefile gives lithologies, but the Age shapefile has polygons listed specifically by age and may be more accurate than the ones given in IcelandGeology. The polygons appear very similar to the polygons already in the map, but John gave me the go-ahead to test this out because the boundaries for IcelandGeology are most likely sharper than the existing ones at the small scale. All of the other geologic features included with the dataset have been translated to the best of my knowledge.
