"make sure" #381

This is a verbal idiom that is not treated consistently.

Make sure to finish
Make sure (that) you finish
*Make sure your decision. (contrast "Make fast the rope.")

The complement clause ("to finish" or "that you finish") must follow "sure". Should it attach to "sure" or to "make"?

embedded clause attaches to "make": 7 EWT, 0 GUM
embedded clause attaches to "sure": 39 EWT, 32 GUM
no embedded clause: just xcomp(make,sure)

I will assume the majority analysis is correct, and fix the 7 EWT instances.
