It worked now once, but I experienced short freezes while gaming, and after some round it freezed completely and crashed
Several restarts of the pc and csgo fixed the problem, will reopen if it occurs again
It crashed now once, while i was in the settings when the cards popped up. After that I restarted CS:GO and finished the round without problems. Searched for another and got an instant crash on warmup :(

i think that crash happens when you alttab. without losing focus to csgo i can finish the game without any issues.

This is happening to me on Manjaro Linux on Nvidia 440.100. The first few times I tried it crashed before the cards popped up. I rebooted and then the first round worked ok, but the second round crashed as the card popped up. Did not alt-tab etc.
Edit: Issue also happens on 455.45.01 driver.
I have this issue aswell, when trying to froce proton enable on csgo in steam (linux client) it would not start, saying it could not connect to the steam client.
After I got csgo windows version running in lutris via windows steam version (completely awful, lag, keys not registering, friends list not opening) I could "play" after warmup, but it was useless actually trying to play.

On AMD Gpu It worked for me after removing "AMD_DEBUG=nongg,nodma" from my grub config.
There is nothing in the latest patchnotes about this issue, but I've tested it with bots this morning and managed to complete 2 full games without issue. Previously I'd never gotten as far as the third round before it crashed.
I have updated drivers to latest in Fedora (455.45.01) and steam. However the issue is still present, can't play more than 2 rounds of retakes without the game crashing at the gun selection screen.
Hello. It would seem disabling shader pre-caching fixes the issue. Which more than likely means something to do with shader pre-caching and the cards Since it crashes directly before they finish drawing causes the issue.
Maybe the game assumes there is no possible way the cards are not pre-cached? This theory is supported by the fact that if I join in the middle of the game after it would have tried to load the cards from the cache the issue becomes resolved for the rest of the time the game is open since it did not check the pre-cache for the cards which aren't there. But disabling pre-cache would bypass checking it in the first place.

After disabling the shader pre-caching in Steam it still crashes for me. Did a restart of Steam as well. Nvidia GPU.
Am also getting a segfault when it tries to load the loadout cards.

seems to indicate the game is trying to read unmapped memory...a garbage pointer with a value of 100000004
? Suspiciously this matches exactly with the segfault reported up above by @dot-matrix-game .

Whatever the issue is, it seems to affect both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. I tried disabling shader pre-caching to no avail.

i have the same issue on Pop_OS. But i think i found a soulution for me! i tried to disable a lot of of setting and reanebled them again and after i disablet the "uber-shader" setting in the video settings in CS:GO it stoped crash for me! i played 3 test rounds VS bots and 2 rounds online! but the weapon skins are now sometimes very glitchy (they are full black sometimes). hope that info is helping someone.
Same issue for me. In some (rare) cases, I'll be able to play some retake games, but most of the times, it simply crashes the first time it shows up the weapon cards. Feel free to get in touch with me if you need more info, I can help debugging it.

A workaround for me was to run the game inside Gamescope. I was able to use the gamemode for two rounds until it froze/crashed again.

The fix mentioned on #2568 and here both did not work, but they helped.
Before applying these fixes, the game would crash right after the team select screen. With the fix, the game can be played for one round.
How long will it take for this to get fixed? I can't do my missions because of this.
No idea if this is fixed consistently but...
After the last update, I managed to play a full match of retakes (against bots) without crashing.
I have shader caching enabled and I use Gamemode with the launchoptions: gamemoderun %command% -high -nojoy -novid -fullscreen -tickrate 128 +fps_max 0 -fullscreen +mat_disable_fancy_blending 1 +cl_forcepreload 1 -limitvsconst -forcenovsync
After 1 match of wingman shortdust, I started a retake lobby and it worked.
Update:
Tested between reboots and it worked 100% of the time. Maybe the latest update fixes the issue?
Was able to play one or two full online matches of retake on the latest update but after that it crashed again in the same manner.
Had the same problem, added -tickrate 128 -nojoy -novid
and I'm finally playing without a coredump. I suspect it was -nojoy
but anyone coming in with this problem in future should also try it.
Can confirm that as soon as I add -nojoy
as commandline option retake works perfectly without any crashes or stability issues!
Edit: Just crashed again on me except nojoy.

Same issue. Seems even worse every update.
If you just want to play the missions and get over it try playing casual or competitive first and immediately after go to retakes. It seems to be more stable when you've played something else first. Just sitting on a local server seems to work as well but I don't have any idea how long or what you need to do specifically.
No configuration option or command line switch has really worked but having played something else first for a while has helped get through the mission.
The issue still remains...I can play a couple of rounds and it crashes once the cards show up

i was able to play on my alts without any issues but it still crashes on my main. i guess there is some setting that makes it crash? if someone has a bunch of free time then please test some of them.
I have 2 PCs - one with GeForce video card, another one with AMD, both running Pop-OS 20.10 (Ubuntu). Retake crashes on both PCs right after the team selection (GeForce), or after the first round (AMD).

If I join a Retake game which is already 2 rounds on, I can pick a team and play it to the end. If, however, a game just starts or only 1 round in, it crashes with a segfault.
On a Manjaro system running Linux 5.11 with custom patches from Linux-TKG it doesn't crash. This is on a system with a Ryzen 3600 and an RX 5600 XT. Still crashes on loading screens. Issue also occurs in GMOD, suggesting that crashing during map switches may be a source engine issue?
I have this issue with Manjaro 21 running GNOME. Had this issue occasionally previously on Ubuntu. GPU is a NVIDIA 2080 Super, with proprietary driver 470 (had driver 440 or 450 on Ubuntu).

Update: issue no longer occurs as of Oct. 6 (at least not frequently enough for me to notice).
The issue is keeps happening for me as well, I am on Pop_OS 21.04 with Intel 11th Gen i5 Mobile with Xe Graphics. I had it on my other laptop with i5 8th gen running Manjaro KDE as well. Tried on both Linux native and via Proton, same issue. There is another issue of maps such as Dust 2 and Inferno flickering.
