CS:GO is always launching as "untrusted" #2734

Closed andrealmeid closed 3 years ago

andrealmeid commented 3 years ago

Your system information

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

After the CS:GO network went down for "Tuesday's routine maintenance", when launching CS:GO and trying to join a competitive game, the following message appears:

Screenshot2021-05-1121:05:14

Even clicking in "Restart Trusted", the game still doesn't launch as trusted. I didn't changed my launch options, but here they are:

vblank_mode=0 mesa_glthread=true  %command% +cl_forcepreload 1 +mat_queue_mode 2

Using mesa_glthread=false didn't solve the issue.

Friends that play on Linux reported the same issue, regardless of distribution, Mesa/kernel version, AMD/NVIDIA GPUs.

have same issue here, even restarting pc csgo still complaint about trusted mode

EDIT

Selecting Continue, then running trusted_launch_info says the following:

] trusted_launch_info
CS:GO was launched in Trusted Launch mode
No files were blocked from loading in CS:GO
brandoncardoso commented 3 years ago

Same issue on Ubuntu 20.04. This is the output of trusted_launch_info in the in-game console.

] trusted_launch_info
CS:GO was launched in Trusted Launch mode
No files were blocked from loading in CS:GO
...

edit: Seems to be working after restarting a few times?

hojberg commented 3 years ago

Having this issue on Mac as well, even tried reinstalling csgo.

jr1991-g commented 3 years ago

Rebooting nor avoiding launch options doesn't fix the problem. Veryfing game files is useless.

I'm having the same issue here.

PieroNarciso commented 3 years ago

I am also having the same issue here

jonringer commented 3 years ago

Played six hours ago, everything was fine.

Use of -trusted launch argument doesn't seem to help. trusted_launch_info shows that trusted launch was successful.

I do notice that after each launch of the game, it will cause the "verify local files" check to fail. Unfortunately, the local files seem to get invalidated upon launch of the game.

Same issue here. MacBook Pro 2019 running MacOS Catalina

gopal-kaul commented 3 years ago

Same issue on GNOME 40 Arch here! Just started today when I play official MM, agree that the console output tells it is in Trusted Launch but the game shows the same warning screen. Scared to play because I don't wanna lose trust factor.

angelprada commented 3 years ago

Same issue with Ubuntu 20.04 + Intel i5-3470 + NVIDIA 1070. Last night it worked fine.

gopal-kaul commented 3 years ago

Could it be due to Feral Gamemode? Not sure if it injects anything into the game. Also I got NVIDIA driver update last night could that have caused this?

I have disabled every external tool recently after a different issue (#2630) and am still affected

shoober420 commented 3 years ago

This is happening to me as well. I’m on Gentoo. I was able to get into some games, but then it randomly will display the warning again.

nelwa commented 3 years ago

Same issue here. It was fine about 3 hours ago, but now nothing seems to fix this issue.

afaik feral gamemode does hook into the game

vaxerski commented 3 years ago

Trusted Launch on linux is most likely snake oil, as the thing it does on Windows doesn't make much sense on Linux. I have yet to see it blocking literally anything on linux. Still, my speculation is that it is in place to make people believe all platforms are secured equally. (even if they aren't)

But that could be wrong, who knows.

portersrc commented 3 years ago

Same issue, similar story to others. I'm on Debian 10. I haven't made any major changes to my system. Yesterday evening when I tried to play I got this error. The trusted_launch_info output in the CS:GO console says it started in trusted mode. I tried adding -trusted to the launch options anyway, but it didn't help. Etc.

Coming from #2630 after a quick confusion moment. . Thanks for the directions @Scrumplex @F1orian

Welp, seems we're all in a bit of a pickle here gents. The Trusted Launch Experience train hit me as well today. Guess we all have to either wait 'till they make changes again to the Trust Factor, by breaking it for the Windows users and giving us the highest TF we could possibly have, or move on to some other places.

As of right now the following things don't work:

image

Here's another big chungus of system info that probably won't help with anything: SysInfo

F1orian commented 3 years ago

Exactly the same issue here since today. AMD 5700XT AMD Ryzen 5 3600 ASUS ROG STRIX x570-i Manjaro Linux 5.12.1 Mesa 21.0.3-3 Resizable BAR was enabled in BIOS, disabling it doesn't change anything regarding the popup (Steam Runtime?)

This issue might in some way be correlated to issue #2630 which has been going on for much longer now.

Cv287 commented 3 years ago

Same issue here on a MacBook Pro 2017 (Big Sur 11.0.1)

fagnerln commented 3 years ago

To be fair, they don't care about us, simple as that. I'm forced to use Flatpak for months because it simply don't work anymore, the steam Linux runtime is useless on csgo, VAC don't support proton, my trust dropped a lot last month (in comparison to a friend using windows which I always play together ).

There's a lot of things that can "inject" codes that can trigger the trust, gamemode and xwayland uses LD_preload, Mesa uses some launch variables by default, who knows what the trust think about the flatpak libraries.

I've lost my account 10years, >400 games, with more than 1000hours on cs because of this, I can't play it anymore, they don't trust me. We should do a review bombing, maybe they listen to us.

Please check, if your issue might be related to or described by #2630 and let us know your system configuration, and if you have "resizable BAR" or an equivalent enabled in BIOS.

fagnerln commented 3 years ago

Replying to https://github.com/ValveSoftware/csgo-osx-linux/issues/2734#issuecomment-839835631

I disabled some days ago, to be honest I don't think that it's because of rebar, I created a new account and it has a better trust for awhile even using resize.

But yeah, there's another suspect.

Edit: opensuse tumbleweed, mesa 21, ryzen 5 1600 and a rx580

Same issue. Steam support just said to click the button, sent me link to the what is trusted launch site and closed issue. Tried -trusted, console reports that csgo was launched in trusted mode. Nohting helps.

thermosflasche commented 3 years ago

Wild suggestion. I don't think this popup is caused by the same possibilities as #2630, since most of the people there don't appear to get such warning. So starting off we could set the resizable BAR at a low probability for this particular issue. Clearly, if anyone here has a low trust factor problem, they should look out at that specific issue.

It may be quite sad, that the only clue we have may not be linked to the problem at all, but at least if we don't focus on it, IMO, we won't lose much precious time.
