High sensitivity when shooting or jumping (Mac) #926

Closed AntikGoofy closed 8 years ago

AntikGoofy commented 8 years ago

I downloaded the newest patch today and when i start shooting or jumping the sensitivity of the mouse gets higher. When you stop shooting or jumping the sensitivity gets back to normal. It also happens when you switch weapons. I am also playing on a second monitor.

Specs: 13 inch Mid 2012, 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB DDR3, Intel HD Graphics 4000.

Lets hope they will listen to us

It is true that SmoothMouse+CS:GO combination fails because of valve's implementation, but to be fair. CS:GO is not the only cross-platform application that fails with SmoothMouse. For example Blender at least the version 2.57 fails to do certain things with SmoothMouse. Causing very similar increasing of sensitivity.

shripadk commented 8 years ago

@Axuttaja The point is that people have been using SmoothMouse ever since 2014 for CS only because the native OSX mouse movement mechanics are horrible (even when you disable mouse acceleration like you suggested). I can understand if there are updates that affect FPS or even have random crashes (which have all happened with updates in the past). I would love it if Valve could emulate what SmoothMouse does but internally within CS itself. But until it can do so it shouldn't put out an update that affects core gameplay. The best thing Valve can do for the users is to revert today's update. It was fine till yesterday so it shouldn't be hard to revert this update and comeback again with a better update.

spagett1337 commented 8 years ago

The game is now unplayable in conjunction with SmoothMouse. Not using 3rd party software to disable mouse acceleration is not a viable alternative

QBAWTF commented 8 years ago

Same here

PLEASE FIX IT - WE CANNOT USE THIS GAME NOW.

AbsoluteShelf commented 8 years ago

@gyurikol the reason raw input cant be enabled on mac isn't an issue with csgo, its an issue with mac itself. Because you can't I'm not sure what the exact code behind it is, but I know that it's caused by the fact that you cant disable mouse acceleration on mac without a third party program. I personally don't know exactly what raw input does but i know it cant be switched to on because of apples lack of an option to disable mouse acc.

Tele42 commented 8 years ago

@AbsoluteShelf raw input is direct access to a pointing device or gamepad, bypassing the normal OS-managed input events.

QBAWTF commented 8 years ago

@vMcJohn Can you please fix it?

In steam options there is a beta version before that fucking update - and it is working correctly but valve banned it from playing with it on public servers.

What are you fucking doing?

krilv commented 8 years ago

Same here. 2013. MBP, OS X 10.11.5 Happens with Smoothmouse. If I uninstall smoothmouse and restart MAC than no sensitivity spikes but game is unplayable due to OS X mouse managament. Tried Razer Synapse - I can disable acceleration there and mouse moves in CSGO normally, but I can't find my prefered sensitivity.

There have been similar problems with smoothmouse - http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/53306/smoothmouse Check the note.

samuelthng commented 8 years ago

Oh that's sad... Because Logitech Gaming Software simply doesn't cooperate with CS:GO and doesn't even cancel out OS X acceleration. Well, have fun Razer folks, while we poor people try to entertain ourselves with our scroll wheels. lol.

krilv commented 8 years ago

You can try to disable acceleration with SteerMouse or USBOverdrive.

QBAWTF commented 8 years ago

It is not a solution.

SmoothMouse worked before Valve update and stopped after that so it is Valve fault. In IT this is simple - because it worked before it must work after update too.

krilv commented 8 years ago

Sure, but it is a temporary solution for us to play the game. Knowing Valve support for Mac, fixing this issue can take a ... long time.

QBAWTF commented 8 years ago

@krilv Do you test these applications? Normally disabling acceleration on OS X causes a high sensitivity by standard without option to fix that. In SmoothMouse it is done by scrollbar "Velocity". Is that possible in these apps?

krilv commented 8 years ago

@kubofonista USBOverdrive disables acceleration for me corectly, but sensitivity is way too low. You can adjust sensitivity in USBOverdrive and CS GO, but I cant find a perfect combo which I had with Smoothmouse.

davidw-valve commented 8 years ago

We have reproduced this problem when using SmoothMouse with CS:GO and are working on a fix.

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@davidw-valve Hi, sorry for sounding impatient but how long will it roughly take for the game to be fully polished for mac and linux users? since for me and I'm sure other users the game was almost unplayable. So could you give us a rough time of when the update with the fix will be released? Thanks

frtbkr commented 8 years ago

I recommend going out. Imagine like a 2 week break before they fix everything.

Unitzzzz commented 8 years ago

had some difficult probs with the update before because of the fps drops and the whole gameperformance... so that csgo wasn't unplayable over the weekend. Which indeed sucks if you're happy to get some matchmakings with your friends. AND NOW another horrific update with awful mousebugs... Thanks for another crashed csgo weekend in a row!!

Tele42 commented 8 years ago

@NikoCSGO no estimates are given until there is a fix for any individual issue waiting to be released in the next update.

Unitzzzz commented 8 years ago

can't be... i have no patience for this way of handling mac users... !!

zezediniz commented 8 years ago

I'm very sad with valve and this shits problems. They do not consider customers

gyurikol commented 8 years ago

@davidw-valve just for my personal knowledge, what happened to be the problem?

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

If you want your mouse to work you have to disable SmoothMouse then go to the game and enable Raw Input. After that you have to change the sensitivity that is similar to the sensitivity you had when SmoothMouse was enabled.

Edit: I own a Macbook myself

AbsoluteShelf commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER raw input doesn't work on mac

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

@AbsoluteShelf For me it's enabled for some reason, try going to the console and type "m_rawinput 1". I believe that's the command.

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER Could you send me a screenshot of your mouse settings in-game? Thanks, I'm very curious

AbsoluteShelf commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER I've tried using it before but when i turn it on in settings it defaults to off after leaving the page, and t does the same thing for the command. How long have you been using raw input, and are you on mac?

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

Wait, I'll send a screenshot soon

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER thanks :)

AbsoluteShelf commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER Ummm..... you dont have raw input on xD

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

It had it on one time.

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER your raw input is off its the acceleration thats on xD

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

Whoops!

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

I forgot I had that on.

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER yeah it turns itself off automatically (shame)

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

Switch on acceleration

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER The thing is we want to get rid of acceleration.

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

I know, I hate to put it on but when I do I forget that I have it on. I just get curios sometimes.

AbsoluteShelf commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER the problem is that you cant turn off mouse accel in mac settings so people use third party software to disable it. Alot of people prefer to have it off so they use smooth mouse to disable it. The newest csgo update changed how mice work in csgo for mac so the competing software is causing problems making the game unplayable

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

Well if you want to play CS:GO try use it since it might be your only option.

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

I honestly hate it without SmoothMouse, when I play L4D2 or Insurgency it's the worst cos' I forget to switch it on or because I'm not bothered. Anyway I hope this kind of solved the problem.

NikoCSGO commented 8 years ago

@COOLUKGAMER Did that, it was disabled one day ago, I'm afraid it wont work anymore :(

QBAWTF commented 8 years ago

I've to asked Steam something about OS X... https://twitter.com/Kubofonista/status/738508480873660417

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

Sorry that was for Linux I will be removing that soon.

SnoodieTheSnoople commented 8 years ago

I will try to look at some sources later. It's 12:24 AM GMT for me.

Lokiiii commented 8 years ago

damn if i could get the same sensitivity and no mouse accel without smoothmouse that'd be great

Lokiiii commented 8 years ago

Don't you think they should also test it with smoothmouse because most of us mac players use it?

Fuckyouvalve commented 8 years ago

https://gfycat.com/InsecureNippyCoqui just to be clear, this is exactly what we are talking about...
