The new Virtual Instructor augmentation should have the "Audio recording" option in the "Communication settings", similar to the audio recording of the old Character augmentation.

When "Audio recording" is selected in the Communication settings, a snippet with (Mic | File) picker appearing and a small help text. image

After a sound is recorded (or a file picked), the snippet changes to a player. The options to record again or pick a new file are still available: image
