Minutes are posted here

At TPAC there was some consensus that folks would like more time to discuss this API through the WICG. Let's use this issue for scheduling and planning. I was planning on using the same basic technology to host the meeting (Google Meet), with a shared Google doc for queuing and note taking.

Possible time slots (in GMT) for a recurring / semi-recurring 30-60 minute meeting:

Unfortunately the list of interested people was not captured in the TPAC notes, so feel free to cc folks that you think would be interested. We can use this issue to align on a time slot, duration, etc. @benjaminsavage, @kdeqc, @ajknox, @johnivdel, @michaelkleber, @johnwilander, @maudnals, @dialtone, @BasileLeparmentier, @bslassey, @erik-anderson

michaelkleber commented 4 years ago

This is a good idea. I can generally free up any of the time slots listed above.

johnwilander commented 4 years ago

I am interested in general but I'm wondering if this API has multi implementer interest? If so, which? Knowing that feels like an important basis for discussion, i.e. are we discussing something that is on track to become a proposed standard or are we discussing a single browser/engine specification?

csharrison commented 4 years ago

Thanks John. I don't think we have any public statements of interest yet from other browser vendors but as this proposal is still in incubation that should be fine (the WICG charter does not require multi-browser support). We're also still iterating through lots of new ideas in this space that are at early stages like the aggregate conversion measurement, which you seemed to express some interest in exploring (e.g. some Prio-like solution) at the privacy CG F2F (minutes).

johnwilander commented 4 years ago

Sure, I'm not saying you're in any bad state or shouldn't incubate. 🙂 I just want to know what I'd be signing up for. I'd prefer it if we could isolate issues that are relevant for both Conversion Measurement API and Private Click Measurement. Would that be possible?

csharrison commented 4 years ago

I don't want to limit the discussions in these meetings to just issues relevant to PCM, but I think we could certainly have meetings where that's the primary agenda topic.

Sounds good. Please ping me for those meetings.

erik-anderson commented 4 years ago

Monday 8-9pm GMT and Tuesday 6:30-7pm GMT would work best for me. Thanks!

gendlermax commented 4 years ago

Hi Charlie, thanks for highlighting this group in web-adv. I'd be available at any of these times. Looking forward to participating!

benjaminsavage commented 4 years ago

I can do Monday 3-4 GMT, Tuesday 3:00-3:30, or Tuesday 10:30-11:00

dialtone commented 4 years ago

Hey,

I have a few people on my side that I would invite to this as well (I think that's 3 folks from our reporting/measurement/ML teams who incidentally are working on a spec for this usecase as well).

The folks from my teams are, hopefully that's not too many of them:

cheers

Between @bedfordsean, @ajknox, and myself, we can make Mon: 3-3:30pm and 4-6pm GMT (8-9pm GMT, 2/3 of us) Tue: 3-3:30pm GMT

Thanks for organizing @csharrison!

BasileLeparmentier commented 4 years ago

Hi Charlie,

Thank you so much for organizing this.

We are available for all the proposed schedule before 6pm GMT, after it is not possible for us, based in Paris, it would be too late.

Thanks again, Basile

johannhof commented 4 years ago

I would be happy to participate in this conversation (though this isn't an explicit implementer interest/intent to implement from Mozilla). I can do all of the suggested timeslots though the Tuesday ones are slightly more inconvenient for me.

Thanks!

csharrison commented 4 years ago

Thanks everyone. It looks like we can meet the most schedules on Monday from 4-5pm GMT. Given that next week is the week of American Thanksgiving, I propose we first meet on Nov 30, from 4-5pm GMT, although if there are strong objections let me know.

We can use this issue for agenda curation in the meantime.

eriktaubeneck commented 4 years ago

Thanks @csharrison for organizing! To clarify, from Nov 30 onward, do you intend to week weekly, or every 2 weeks (or some other cadence)?

csharrison commented 4 years ago

Great question. I think we can stick with every 2 weeks unless it seems like we have a lot of material to get through and folks want to meet more often.

csharrison commented 3 years ago

I added a link to a Google Meet in the issue description, along with a Google doc with a tentative agenda (@johnwilander there may be some topics of interest to you).

Feel free to use this issue to suggest further agenda items.

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Let's schedule the next meeting for Monday, Dec 14 at 4-5pm GMT. I'll create a new notes / agenda doc closer to the call and provide meeting details.

As always, feel free to use this issue to propose agenda items.

dialtone commented 3 years ago

Awesome. Since we'll have talked about our new spec https://github.com/AdRoll/privacy/blob/main/SPURFOWL.md in the next w3c meeting I wonder if it would be possible to talk about that within this group.

ajknox commented 3 years ago

@csharrison, can you update in this issue to include links to call in details, times, and where minutes are posted? I think this is most discoverable way for new people to join this topic

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Updated the issue to provide the call-in details, links to past minutes, and an agenda doc for the next meeting.

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Scheduling the next call for Jan 11, since I will be mostly out of office till that Monday. Enjoy the holidays everyone! 🎉

csharrison commented 3 years ago

This coming Monday @johnivdel will present a new document we published on event-level VTC: https://github.com/WICG/conversion-measurement-api/blob/main/event_attribution_reporting.md

If we have time we can also discuss a new proposal for cross device: https://github.com/WICG/conversion-measurement-api/blob/main/cross_device.md

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Just updated the call to clarify that we're now meeting at 3pm GMT, to accommodate the time zone changes that happened a while back. Let me know if this is an issue for anyone, though we have been at this schedule accidentally for the last couple meetings (my apologies)!

BasileLeparmentier commented 3 years ago

Hi Charlie,

Could I talk today (probably quickly) about the ML challenge that we are launching, described here https://github.com/WICG/conversion-measurement-api/issues/137 ?

Best, Basile

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Yep sounds good.

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Given that the 31st is Memorial Day I propose we cancel next week's meeting. At least all the Google folks (including myself) have the day off.

OmShiv commented 3 years ago

Has the call been scheduled now? Interested to join (from LinkedIn).

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Hey Om yes the next call is next Monday, June 14, 2021, from 3-4pm GMT

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Thanks for the meeting today everyone! I wanted to encourage folks to use this issue or the Google Doc linked in the original post to gather agenda before meetings. I am also open for feedback on how we could organize the meetings better.

For next time we can spend a bit more time discussing debugging (incl. issue #160)

Call for agenda items (next Monday 6/28): If there are topics and issues you'd like to discuss on Monday's call, add an item to the agenda by listing it in the Meeting Doc or by directly commenting here on this issue. Thanks!

csharrison commented 3 years ago

Hey folks! Our next scheduled meeting would be Sept 6 which is Labor day so many of us will not be working. I am also going to be out of office on Sept 20 so I think we should just try to schedule this sometime the week of Sept 6.

What do people think about rescheduling next meeting to Tueday, Sept 7 at 9am PT, right after the Web-Advertising W3C meeting? Feel free to propose more times if that one doesn't work.

erik-anderson commented 3 years ago

Sept. 7th at 9am PT sounds good to me. Thanks!

csharrison commented 3 years ago

OK thanks folks let's lock it in - Sept 7th, 9am PT is our next meeting. See you then!

benjaminsavage commented 3 years ago

I think it would be worthwhile to discuss the topic of this issue: https://github.com/privacycg/private-click-measurement/issues/88#issuecomment-920778905

In short, let’s discuss to what extent APIs encode “last-touch attribution”.

maudnals commented 3 years ago

Sounds good, I've added it to the agenda.

eriktaubeneck commented 3 years ago

It would be great to get @johnwilander, @johnivdel, and @csharrison on the call where this is discussed. (Adding @csharrison because it would be great to consider this across PCM, Event-level Attribution, and Aggregate Attribution. Correct me if he's not the right person for the Aggregate API.)

@csharrison mentioned above he is out on 9/20 (selfishly, I am as well.)

@johnwilander, would you be able to join on either 9/20 or 10/4? We should prioritize for Apple's availability, to at least have coverage across the APIs being discussed.

johnwilander commented 3 years ago

Monday 9/20 8-9 am Pacific works for me.

benjaminsavage commented 3 years ago

Seems like Erik and Charlie are both out on 9/20. @johnwilander can you make 10/4 instead?

johnwilander commented 3 years ago

Monday 10/4 8-9 am Pacific works for me too.

johnivdel commented 3 years ago

I've moved the proposed topic into the 10/4 agenda. We will still hold the regular 9/20 meeting on the other agenda topics, thanks!

Call for agenda items (next Monday 11/29): If there are topics and issues you'd like to discuss on Monday's call, add an item to the agenda by listing it in the meeting doc (bit.ly/ara-meeting-notes) or by directly commenting here on this issue.

Sending this out early since it's Thanksgiving week in the US and we only have one item on the agenda for next week.

csharrison commented 2 years ago

There was some discussion in the meeting today about meetings during the holidays. I am available on our next scheduled meeting (Dec 13), but I (and I expect many other people) will be out on the next one (Dec 27).

I propose we meet on Dec 13, and hold our next meeting Jan 10. I don't think I can personally attend the Jan 10 one but I expect folks on the Chrome side can join. @johnivdel, are you available Jan 10 to chair?

Please thumbs up this comment if you're OK with this plan, or suggest an alternative if it doesn't work.
