mctsts:
AT would already see any killing role as a threat: CS wouldn't be affected because if it's checking a RW claim it'll know not to check it as RW.
but CS still cant confirm it

right I forgot how AT works
mctsts: technically I suppose RW could be disguised as PT but that's an obscure edge case and not a relevant argument
e_thsn: TrW would also see RW as no threat depending on the disguise
mctsts: yeah so basically it works on all WI
shapechange:
but CS still cant confirm it
it can in the event that the role it'd be imitating is known (obvious in public lists, possible with reporter results/other checks)
mctsts: well not really
mctsts: you'd still need the mechanical confirmation
shapechange:
PW also can't check RW as RW
but PW will know the most common pack role unless there's multiple candidates, and can probably make an educated guess as to what hosts chose even if there are
mctsts: right so on PW it doesnt really work
shapechange:
you'd still need the mechanical confirmation
which is easy to get, something I've been saying from the start
e_thsn: PW works if RW isn't known
mctsts: I thought the RW disguise was an arbitrary pack role, not the most common one
shapechange: I like it being a lycan and I'm happy to keep that if the kill stuff is changed like you suggested, I'm not saying it should be removed
mctsts: I only care for the lycan part, the killing mechanic is just the best option we settled on
mctsts: This was my original suggestion after all:
The Regretful Wolf is a town aligned packless lycan who feels remorse for killing town. However they must still kill every night.
shapechange: yeah, i really liked some of our old regretful/rogue wolf stuff
shapechange: like forced kills with consequences
e_thsn: I think one mechanic that is severely underated with RW compaired to other TK is it can't just "save the kill for later"
N2 town might suspect Ts of being a wolf but not be sure
Assassin, CL and Priest can wait another night as they can attack every night (assassin and CL after N2) as long as they don't die Whereas rogue wolf isn't guaranteed to be able to attack N3 so town has to play riskier with their kills
shapechange:
like forced kills with consequences
to me these are super interesting and massively affect how town has to play
mctsts: yeah but the consequence role change is bad and the consequence death is priest
shapechange: yeah i agree
shapechange: which is why that was scrapped
shapechange: but I'm sure we could come up with something else
mctsts: I don't think we were able to
e_thsn: Rogue Wolf's identity is revealed to wolves?
shapechange: i was just thinking that
shapechange: i think a previous suggestion was RW loses its power
e_thsn: that sucked because it was really similar to Priest
e_thsn: and when we did it we made it too complex
shapechange: i mean, it's less similar than it being revealed to wolves
shapechange: maybe it can no longer control who it kills (its targets are randomised), which is interesting then because town has to either waste a lynch on it or gamble on keeping it alive
shapechange: then it has some fun potential when combined with, say, witch or guardian or ch
shapechange: also - without reporter, town don't even know if rogue wolf has gone crazed
e_thsn: RW is just gonna tell tt
shapechange: maybe RW doesn't know itself
e_thsn: and if it's forced kills it's gonna suck
shapechange:
and if it's forced kills it's gonna suck
?
shapechange:
maybe RW doesn't know itself
like, it wouldn't know until its first bad kill, probably
e_thsn: if failing gives a consequence of random kills we can't have forced kills
shapechange: why?
shapechange: that's the point
e_thsn: N1 kills town because it has no info, basically becomes useless
e_thsn: that was the issue with old rw
shapechange: it wouldn't have a N1 kill?
shapechange: oh i forgot you weren't here for OG rogue wolf
e_thsn: if it doesn't have tt by N2 it is basically useless and assassin would be better
shapechange: it didn't have a N1 kill, it killed from N2 onwards
e_thsn: the first publsihed version had N1
e_thsn:
oh i forgot you weren't here for OG rogue wolf
I was?
