venomousbirds: i just read the first 3 messages

huckhuck55: Negative election. Announce a players role (disguises still apply)
huckhuck55: Wait, that’s terrible. Early game confirm. Quiet huck.
mctsts: idk if this is commonly known anymore but Mayor used to be the D0 election
mctsts: It was bad for reasons already mentioned in this thread (and maybe other reasons I have forgotten) and that's why it got changed
shapechange:

what do you think of the idea of another elected role, though?
wwhythough: d0 announce a players role is a funny idea
mctsts: I'm not opposed to it, but I don't have a proper opinion before we have a better idea on the actual election
wwhythough: without town protection
shapechange: right now all we've got is "basically fletcher but it gives a power that isn't a kill"
mctsts: my suggestion would be the first half of monarch https://discord.com/channels/584765921332297775/1119957011937886318/1119957011937886318 and the player chooses a heir which makes killing ineffective
mctsts: I thought about it for 1 minute
shapechange: hmm
mctsts:
Each day, they may knight another player, which causes them to temporarily gain an extra vote and negate a vote against them. This part
shapechange: it could work?
shapechange: i'm not sure it's necessarily enough to incentivise people claiming to get it
shapechange: because it's a role that's only impactful in the longer term, when teams are close to parity
mctsts: in power its basically equalish to mayor < 15
shapechange: yeah
shapechange: but mayor <=15 isn't particularly incentivising until parity either, as seen by people randoming it
mctsts: dont think anything stronger than mayor <= 15 would make sense though
shapechange: it doesn't necessarily need to be stronger, it just needs to have more short-term appeal
shapechange: quite frankly i wouldnt be opposed to it just being fletcher without revoke, i think fletcher would be more interesting as an elective than as a town role
huckhuck55: what about the vulnerable trait? whoever is elected becomes vulnerable thereby making any visits to them kill them.
im stuck on the negative election idea.
mctsts:

I dont think this is something I'd like to see frequently
mctsts: fletcher is a fairly specific one use power which i dont think fits for elected roles
shapechange:

because that contravenes literally everything we want from the role
shapechange:
fletcher is a fairly specific one use power which i dont think fits for elected roles
fair enough
huckhuck55:
because that contravenes literally everything we want from the role
but it would create discussion in a different kind of way.
huckhuck55: not wether they should get it d0, but why they shouldnt.
shapechange:
because that contravenes literally everything we want from the role
we need something
mctsts:

the optimal strat becomes for citizens (or similiarily weak roles) to claim to get it, making the game worse for the worst roles
shapechange: yeah
shapechange: you have to either have a weak town role go for it, fucking up their game and reducing the claimspace for pr and scum, or it would just be randomly elected
huckhuck55: okay, just throwing it out there.
ill pipe down lol.
shapechange:
fletcher is a fairly specific one use power which i dont think fits for elected roles
i don't think the "one use power" part is the bad bit, though - if anything i think it's the strength, because it helps ensure criterion three
huckhuck55: a yes or no question to one of the hosts about the rolelist or a player? :shurg:
wwhythough: d0 president of the united states election
huckhuck55:
a yes or no question to one of the hosts about the rolelist or a player? :shurg:
call it something like, secret dossier election.
shapechange:
d0 president of the united states election
implying joe biden is actively communicating with a god
huckhuck55: hes close enough to death, maybe he is.
huckhuck55: isnt he like 95 or soemthing
shapechange: hes in his 80s huck
huckhuck55: yeah so 90s.... they all blend together when youre that old
mctsts: <@458727748504911884> did you mark this as resolved as not implemented?
mctsts: I dont remember this being closed
shapechange: i dont remember doing so
shapechange: might have clicked it by mistake when i made the thread in the first place
shapechange: I think this has been discussed before and discarded, but maybe we should reconsider moving the mayor election to D0 (or add another election on D0? Could prevent so much randoming during N1.
