mctsts: why
captainluffy: why would it want an investigation
im_dumm0: Too hard
thekremblin: i actually argue it would be too easy
thekremblin: it's a very wolf-sided role
captainluffy: yeah if u just choose mayor
thekremblin: they just need to contact wolves, choose mayor and they have the win in the bag lol
im_dumm0: But similar to psychic wolf
e_thsn: I was thinking about a UA that can win of its own volition and guessing deaths was an option that works
e_thsn:
they just need to contact wolves, choose mayor and they have the win in the bag lol
Well they need to guess 3 times
thekremblin: not consecutively though
im_dumm0: Ges where ppl just kill of mayor non stop
e_thsn:
why would it want an investigation
Find good targets, finding pack
e_thsn: Also just guessing mayor doesn't work if town kills someone
e_thsn: They gotta guess everyone that night
im_dumm0:
Find good targets, finding pack
Find a target on your back
venomousbirds: this sounds so boring tbh
thekremblin:
I was thinking about a UA that can win of its own volition and guessing deaths was an option that works
it doesn't win of its own voliton though...it NEEDS info from other teams
thekremblin: it's impossible to guess if you're not in trusted
thekremblin: guessing a wolf target? possible. guessing a town or solo target? near impossible
shapechange: dont like this
thekremblin: oh hey sarvak
sarvak2: I feel like it's too easy to side and weigh the win in favour of the gambler. The fun of UA is that they could feasibly work with either side or no one and no side really wants them gone. This role just really incentives the UA to side with wolves, guaranteeing a correct guess in any game without a killing solo team.
pokemoncross:
Each night the gambler must guess who they think will die that night, upon guessing everyone correctly the gambler will receive an investigation the following day. The gambler ascends and wins upon three successful guesses.
Unaligned Investigative (?)
pokemoncross: sounds like
katyhawk: I can see this role being either too easy or too hard to play. Theoretically it could win without ever talking or contacting anyone. It could also eat shit and be completely left out of the loop.
The role most similar I can think of is psychopath and that one has a lot of interaction with all killing roles
venomousbirds: its just another ua that needs to be close to tt to win
venomousbirds: its det's problem too
pokemoncross: town trusted
e_thsn: Eh it's just something I thought might work, but I guess I didn't think it would side and would use reads more
venomousbirds: if tt is established, most kills wont be announced and will be silent
venomousbirds: if its not in tt, it's practically fucked
steinator: Imma be honest I wanted to make that post like 2 weeks ago but drcided against it cause itll be very easy
venomousbirds: its either extremely easy or extremely difficult
pokemoncross: what's TT <@277156693765390337> ?
steinator: town trusted
pokemoncross: ahh
e_thsn:
its either extremely easy or extremely difficult
Designing UA in a nutshell
sarvak2: I think it could be fine if instead you guessed "x person will die by X day" and if you get more than 50% of your guesses right by the end of the game, you win. Maybe also have it so guessing the exact day or night gives you more points towards winning or something.
Incentives them to side with town for lynches, wolves for kills, and it can be independent if it makes safe bets, but if it dies too early it doesn't have enough guesses.
e_thsn: Have we ever designed any UA within the past few years that have escaped limited
e_thsn: I can only think of cat which is just dog but automatically opposite of dog
steinator: are hags still limited?
e_thsn: I think so
captainluffy: they are the most limited of the limited
steinator: good
e_thsn: ;unaligned master
sarvak2: UA is such a tricky category though
sarvak2: Like to design
pokemoncross: say... riding hood...
e_thsn: Each night the gambler must guess who they think will die that night, upon guessing everyone correctly the gambler will receive an investigation the following day. The gambler ascends and wins upon three successful guesses.
