Wrong server string prevents proxy connection #58

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Concerning version 2.1.1:
In the proxies config file "wot-xvm-proxy.exe.config" there is an erro in the
server strings.
In settings tag "proxy servers" the string is malformed in that there is a TAB
instead of a SPACE between "EU" and the rest in a string like this:
<string>EU aHR0cDovL3Byb3h5LmJ1bHljaGV2Lm5ldC9ldS8/JTE=</string>
This is true for all strings for the various nations.

This keeps xvm from connecting to the server, and so the proxy throws a
"system.exception.httpwebrequest"-exception or something in the console log.

Original issue reported on code.google.com by mo...@mailinator.com on 28 Apr 2012 at 2:16

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
Both TAB and SPACE are valid, because we split it using this code:
  string[] s = server.Split(new char[] { ' ', '\t' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries);
So, the problem have another reason (may be proxy was down?)

I updated to 2.1.1 as well and am getting the same issue. I haven't had any
proxy issues before and was running the previous version just fine. Here is
snippet with the logging turned up:

I have the same issue. Replacing TAB with SPACE does not solve the problem.

I think I read that the new version is using a new proxy?
Maybe it's down?

Same issue here, replaced the proxy config in the 2.1 release with the config
from 2.0, but that didn't seem to help. Still get the above exception every
battle.

Config I tried to use from 2.0:

Ok, I installed EU client, and confirm the problem. But I cannot solve it,
because proxy maintainer is batsvr (aka iBat), and we need to wait his answer.

Before solving the problem you can use old proxy - just use config from 2.0 and
exe from 2.1.

Just wanted to add that I'm also experiencing this problem, with both versions,
and the conf posted a few comments above does not work.

Perhaps if the problem persists there should be a way to download from the
proxy the data in a semi compressed format (to save bandwidth) and have the
program look up the information locally. Then the connection to the server
wouldn't be the only source, have it look up from the download first then fall
back to the server after that.

now that is a great idea
or instead of encoding data in URLs encode it in DNS (subdomains with 24hr
expiry time) and let global DNS network cache it

I found on other forum a fix that works for me (on Windows 7) - run the binary
as administrator. Hopefully it's only temporary... Please fix!!
