The BeagleBoard is officially supported by ArchLinux. However their image does not boot on my Revision C3 board. The Revision C3 board potentially requires an old version of U-Boot to boot. Revision C4 switched to a faster (720 MHz) version of the SoC, while the C3 revision has a 600 MHz version. This might be the boot issue.

Check out old revisions of U-boot and find one that boots on a Revision C3 board.

Latest upstream u-boot works fine on my BeagleBoard C3. It seems this issue has been fixed since I last tested the BeagleBoard.

The BeagleBoard is very picky about its SD card. (16 GB max supported) There is a full size Transcend 16 GB SD card which works. I've tried various 2GB and 4 GB microSD cards, none boot. My USB3 card reader only takes microSD, the SD card reader is USB2 and its slow.
