Can someone do this? Directsound input would be great

Can you add more description? I am guessing FFT stands for fast Fourier transform.

Yes, a spectrum analyser utilising a fast fourier transform I want to use it to trick people Arno

Aww, I don't have any first hand experience with spectrum analyzers and I don't know how we can fit Cmatrix there. Can you please explain more?

look at the tool sndpeek ( https://soundlab.cs.princeton.edu/software/sndpeek/) it does fft in 3D. basically a 2D fft would be awesome, using characters instead of lines. Of course some data would be lost but you could look at encoding it into the letters used, if the rng doesn't handle it. Arno
