I whipped up a quick PCB and had it made. I am using the ILI9341 320x240 LCD and 2 x 18650 batteries for power. (The ESP32 connects to the bottom of the PCB to keep it out of the way.
I added your WIFI signal strength update, but not the battery charging or level. My battery pack shuts off when the ESP32 goes into deep sleep but a quick button press on the side fires it up and it reconnects very quickly to WIFI and is ready to go. I think with 7000mAh total for the batteries it will last a very long time between charges. I currently have it set to deep sleep/shut off after 3 minutes.
I will design and print a case now that I have everything hooked up.
