Adobe Animate and Bodymovin / Lottie #1604

Open riscovo opened 5 years ago

riscovo commented 5 years ago

Hi!

we would be forever grateful to get Bodymovin/Lottie working ion Adobe Animate CC.

This software is the former 'Flash', and it is not the same as Adobe After Effects.

We are really looking forward for some good news, I find more and more people asking for the same.

Cheers!

cntgfyjd commented 4 years ago

Still nothing 😕😢

ThunderKathryn commented 4 years ago

I just discovered this program and HAD to make an account here to show my support. Signed up for the early release and now I’m excitedly waiting for the new plugin. So pumped!

doronwolf23 commented 4 years ago

...since September 2019 (the release of the POC version by adobe that seems to work but with the bugs mentioned above https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web/issues/1604#issuecomment-546453841) there hasn't been any report of real progress (..besides a comment by @reallynattu from Lottie files on March 2020 saying that they are still testing a plugin version and posting a link to register for the early release).. we are all been waiting here for so long... this is very frustrating since Elementor just released a new official pro version that supports Lottie files I really hope good news will come ASAP 🙏

jfranc06 commented 4 years ago

Ah, I just realised this was announced on 1st April, it looks like we've all been trolled.

doronwolf23 commented 4 years ago

I don't think so...an alpha version of the plugin already exists and @reallynattu announced Lottie files and Adobe teamed up together for this issue already in February, his comments suggesting users sign up for early access are from last May ..this doesn't look like a 1st April joke to me

willhindson commented 4 years ago

Has anyone received the beta yet? I must admit I was a bit too hopeful/reckless when planning a project that sort of depends on being able to export lottie json from animate, for this week. I've been using the super early version posted somewhere above and while I can just about get it to work, if I break apart everything down to the base vectors and only use shape tweens on the main timeline, the resulting output works OK but has rough vectors in places. As soon as I try to classic tween a movieclip on the main timeline, Animate crashes on publish attempt. Does anyone using the super early version have the same issues?

willhindson commented 4 years ago

If I'm planning ahead to when the plugin is released, it would at least be good to know if it will support nested movieclips and therefore independent timelines... does anyone have any information on that? Also, masking, motion paths etc.. I guess it wouldn't be much use without those things so maybe I'm just reading too much into the state of the alpha version 😅

jpgif commented 4 years ago

would be great if beta is released this year, but I really think this will be released at least in the first quarter of 2021. How are the current lottie files created if it's not with this plugin? Can't wait to use it! This would be a perfect time to practice

misteroups commented 4 years ago

I subscribed to the waiting list. I can only hope that the plugin will be released soon !! This plugin is really important for the community, please give it priority on your roadmap and give us a feedback !

sarykemmoun commented 3 years ago

Hi. I'd also be happy when it releases.

cryptozoidberg commented 3 years ago

Hi. I'd also be happy when it releases.

It won't be ever released i believe

tookie92 commented 3 years ago

Please Release it

willhindson commented 3 years ago

Just wondering if anyone has any news on the plugin? Still very eagerly awaiting :)

riscovo commented 3 years ago

These are the last news I know about:

The Product manager of Adobe Animate posts on this blog the release of a beta of the plugin. It was ~one year ago: https://github.com/airbnb/lottie-web/issues/1604#issuecomment-524190537

In early 2020 an official Adobe article appears online, to announce the plugin for the broad public. Later in the year the article has been removed from online (I don't have official explanations or excuses for this act). This is the PDF version: LottieFiles Support in Adobe Animate Coming Soon… _ Adobe Blog.pdf And this is the Google-cached version: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:W3ikiShXUicJ:https://adobe.ly/2wwLABt+&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=nl LottieFiles Support in Adobe Animate Coming Soon… _ Adobe Blog.pdf

In the same period, also an official tweet from Adobe announced the release of the plugin:

Screenshot 2020-08-03 at 11 14 16

Since then, probably as a consequence of the publicity that Adobe itself gave to this important pug-in release, more and more people is joining this and other threads to ask Adobe to release the promised updates, or at least to say something, anything, about the progress.

I am sure the intention of Adobe is not to be ghosting the Adobe community (although, so far, someone may think this is actually looking like that..), so I am sure that they will let us know something soon.

Here's an update from a couple of days ago https://twitter.com/LottieFiles/status/1288875881201430528

doronwolf23 commented 3 years ago

so there is still a hope 😃

willhindson commented 3 years ago

Phew! That is a relief 😅

ALTKEY-CODE commented 3 years ago

@riscovo Thanks for keeping our hope alive.

robertotterai commented 3 years ago

Looking forward to bodymovin for Animate. Animate's is my jam. Being forced to use AE I'm like a fish out of water and the amount of drill down you have to do is borderline nightmare. Vector art is where lotti files shine and Animate is all about that. Here's to waiting a bit longer.

Anyone have a more recent update?

Animate cc is the perfect tool for vector-based animation. I hope that we will soon be able to take advantage of this opportunity to create Lottie content. This makes sense 😀

askAguilr2 commented 3 years ago

Today I visited Animate's website to see what's new from previous year, was kinda dissappointed that the updates were so focused on just html canvas. I believe lottie is a great bet for Adobe as it's getting more popular everyday.

nikitalita commented 3 years ago

it seems like a really bad idea for an open standard like this to be so reliant on proprietary software. EXPENSIVE proprietary software, no less.

riscovo commented 3 years ago

Any updates after almost one and a half years? 🤔

misteroups commented 3 years ago

Yes we want (good) news !

willhindson commented 3 years ago

This is a tough year for everyone so I totally understand delays — for the sake of the devs though I would hope they could set expectations a little better as to whether we should expect it soon or not. Either way is ok but my hopes were set too high for an end of Sept beta release following the last communication from Lottie 😞

Wise words. A tough year that justifies delays combined with some lack of expectations management.

What also I found very interesting in this year is the amount of people requesting such feature for Animate CC. When I started this request on May 2019 I was sure that Adobe should steer their development focus in this direction, but I could not find many confirms in the online community. Now the confirms are so many and the demand from users seems very clear (not only via this thread, also via other platforms and furthermore also in the new releases from Adobe competitors in animations softwares for digital).

I am also still confident in a positive outcome of this. Still looking forward for our old Adobe to surprise us again.

willhindson commented 3 years ago

@riscovo As I understand things, Adobe has nothing to do with this plugin, but rather the people behind Lottiefiles.com (not sure whether or not Adobe is helping out) – for what it's worth :)

riscovo commented 3 years ago

Hi @willhindson,

Adobe has actually more than something to do with this plugin... since more than one year ago :)

Oh! Cool didn't realise. Still no news though 😭

ALTKEY-CODE commented 3 years ago

Here's another comment... I'm just trying to keep this request alive. Hoping for someone from Adobe to see this. ;-) (would be cool to have this for Christmas or 2021)

JPLoureiro83 commented 3 years ago

I think I've lost all faith on Adobe.

Been using their products since the 90s (always bought all the Actionscript bibles) but ever since I've started playing around and actually delivering work with Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher I just don't see the point in working with them anymore.

I've reached out to a developer that has provided a very rudimentary Blender Lottie plugin and I already started working on it until another player releases a stable tool.

Goodbye Adobe. No more money for you. I no longer respect you since you don't respect your clients and fans.

riscovo commented 3 years ago

Hi @JPLoureiro83 , indeed Blender seems like an increasingly interesting alternative, now also for 2D animation. It could solve the need of some of us in this forum, but probably not all of us.

I assume you want to create animations for UIs and Apps (ios/android) - hence you also like me have interest in a Lottie-like plugin that allows developers to embed it easily into their UI development tool. Which is the type of compatibility that, so far, Animate is totally missing out.

Are you looking at animated illustration and micro animations to be embedded into an UI, or also looking at integrated/interactive animations and UI (UX...) screen transitions? For interactive I mean parts of the animation you control by code and not jus by timeline. For transitions I mean actual screens staging and navigation into an App, and not just a local animation.

I ask this, because what I (used to..) like of Animate is the huge potential in prototyping and delivering hi-fi and complete navigations systems, interactive animations, micro and macro interactions, all custom made. Unfortunately, this is a potential that Adobe does not understand, year after year losing slowly losing it. So nowadays there are dozens of 'UX prototyping' tools out there nowadays (also one from Adobe, into 'XD'), they all promise professional 'UI animation' but they are actually offering a little more than bunch of presets to move from screen X to screen Y when I tap on Z. Almost all of the features that they offer, looks like the same kids-toy box to a professional animator. There is no space for exploration and innovation, which is what made Animate fantastic some years ago.

Do you see what I mean. Maybe starting from here we can help each other to find the next (real) step in professional software for animation for interactive projects and UIs.

ALTKEY-CODE commented 3 years ago

@JPLoureiro83 Thanks for pointing out Affinty's products. It's worth testing it. My faith in Adobe's product is fading away as well. Saddly there's no Vector base Animator alternative right now. To make Lottie animation from Affinity we would need to create the vector in the Designer then move to Adobe After Effect, animate then export to Lottie. :-(

Hey all,

We are pleased to release an early access build of LottieFiles for Animate plugin for testing.

Scene export, main timelines, all shapes, and symbols are currently supported. This release does not currently handle all nested symbol timeline scenarios yet. Bitmap graphics support is not included in this release either, as we ran into a few issues that need more work to solve cleanly. We will be releasing regular updates in the coming weeks as we discover issues, fix them, and keep adding more features.

Please leave your candid feedback, feature requests, and bug reports at https://lottiefiles.com/discuss/product/animate-plugin.

There are a limited number of publically available Animate Project files; this limits our testing. It would be really helpful if you could share the use case, the sample file, or even the actual project file for us to replicate the issue. All files shared will be treated strictly confidential and will only be used for QA purposes.

Download link: LottieFiles for Animate 0.4.0

Happy testing and thanks!

did anyone succeed using the new plugin for exporting a JSON file that works correctly? so far every time I export I preview my exported JSON it shows as if it's blank and sometimes Adobe Animate even shows me an error message that says 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null'

doronwolf23 commented 3 years ago

also when entering the cogwheel (which I assume is for settings) I some times got lots of error messages like this: TypeError: this.elements[n].destroy is not a function This is located at: at n (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:24:235846) at div at or (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:1397548) at div at div at Hr (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:94:2485) at ro (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:148:7) at to (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:170:34) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:91709) at yn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:13) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:92601) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:88724) at r (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:76:89639) at div at i (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:24:250309) at Fn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lottiefiles.animate/index.html:80:2092) at Bn (file:///Library/Application%20Support/Adobe/CEP/extensions/com.lot

I Will be more than happy to share FLA files, JSON files, screenshots, etc. if it will help them to solve the problem

liteowl commented 3 years ago

Thank you! Just starting to test this out. Two hurdles I came across, hope this helps others: · Install the .zxp file using Anastisy's Extension Manager http://install.anastasiy.com · The Extension can be found under Window › Extensions: image

doronwolf23 commented 3 years ago

Hi @liteowl did you try exporting one of your existing projects into the Lotti JSON file and did experienced any of the problems I described?

liteowl commented 3 years ago

So far, no animation is exporting correctly. The preview and dragging the .json files to lottieFiles.app is showing the same thing; one or two frames and the rest is blank. @doronwolf23 I also got the error 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null' one time.

If there are certain types of animation that are not allowed, it would be helpful to know.

liteowl commented 3 years ago

On a more complicated animation (previously succesfully exported to HTML5 (easel.js/create.js) I get these errors:

doronwolf23 commented 3 years ago

Hi @liteowl they said: "This release does not currently handle all nested symbol timeline scenarios yet. Bitmap graphics support is not included in this release either" so I would understand why those kinds of animation wouldn't export correctly, but the problem is that even when I try the most basic simple animation that doesn't have those properties, almost 99% of the time it will still fail to export correctly ...and I will get the error 'A JavaScript error occurred. TypeError: dom is null' many times so.. this is far from beta.. @jawish are you following this thread? can we help in any way to make the plugin more stable?

donatho5 commented 3 years ago

Hi! I finally managed to create an animation and publish it: https://lottiefiles.com/47799-lottie-now-likes-adobe-animate-at-least-a-bit

I use Shape Tweens. Classic and Motion Tweens doesn´t seem to work, yet.
