View Panels and Menu Structure

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) will consist of three view panels, Left, Right, and Main. Please refer to the following mockup:

On devices with larger screens the Left and Main view panels will remain visible at all times. The right panel can be activate with a menu icon in the upper right hand corner of the Main view panel and will slide over the content of the Main panel.

On devices with smaller screens the Main view panel will be visible by default with the option to open the Left view panel with an icon on the bottom bar left hand side (not visible on larger displays). The right panel can be activate with a menu icon in the upper right hand corner of the Main view panel and will slide over the content of the Main panel.

Each panel will have its own menu structure but will share resources across the displays. The right view panel will hold content specific to the page loaded in the Main view, such as in the preview above with adding notes or booking meeting when the church information page is loaded. This is also where the settings for the search results and lists refinements will be found. The Left and Main view panels will both start with a simple hyperlinked list that will link to either another sub-menu or the actual content. There will be a back button on both the Left and Main view panels to get back to the top of the menu list. See below for my proposed menu structure for the Left and Main view panels:

Left View Panel

• News and Updates: News for the community about ifbmt. By clicking on the article title and snippet the full article will open in the Main view panel.
• Quick Calendar: (what is visible in the mockup above) A view of the calendar with event highlights and below the calendar a three panel switchable content for either map display, agenda display, or route display. When clicking on an event, the event will open in the Left View for viewing with a link to open event in main view
• Recent Contacts: A quick list of recently viewed/created contacts. If click on a link it will open the contact with their information and notes in the main view. This could be used to quickly jump back and forth between contacts without having to search every time for recent contacts.
• Recent Churches: A quick list of recently viewed churches. If click on a church link it will open in the main view. This could be used to quickly jump back and forth between churches without having to search all over again.
• Recent Notes: a list of your recent notes. By clicking on a note link it will open the note in the Left view panel with a link to open the ministry in the Main view panel.
• Recent Hot Alerts: a quick list showing the name of the ministry and a snippet of the Hot Alert. What I am referring to as Hot Alerts, are extremely high public notes. By click on a hot alert link it will open the note in the Left view panel with a link to open the ministry in the Main view panel.

Main View Panel

• Dashboard: see issue #12
• Calendar: a view of your calendar with three different views:
  • Monthly
  • Weekly
  • Agenda
• Map: A full map display defaulting to your monthly meetings and surrounding churches. In the Right hand panel will be options to filter points on the map as well as change the dates for calendar events displayed on the map.
• Church List: A list of all the church ministries default ordered by most recently updated by the community. The Right view panel will have options to filter and sort this list. As the view is scrolled down more churches are loaded into view.
• Contacts: A list of all personal contacts and public contacts that you have made personal contact with. This list will be filterable and searchable by options in the right view panel.
• Hot Alerts: a quick list showing the name of the ministry and a snippet of the Hot Alert. What I am referring to as Hot Alerts, are extremely high public notes. By click on a hot alert link it will open the referenced ministry in the Main view panel.
• Activity: this will open the following sub-menu
  • Recent Personal Activity
  • Recent Viewed Ministries
  • Recent Public Notes (regardless of priority)
  • Recently Updated Churches (can be filtered to show just your updates pending and/or approved)
• Administration: this will open the following sub-menu
  • Profile Settings: change personal setting.
  • User Management (if authorized) : add users, edit users, reset passwords, etc.
• Resources: a list of resources and links to external content. see #10

I updated my original post to remove messages and added contacts. I will open contact management as a new idea.
