When creating an event, I believe that there should be a way to create a public event.
For instance, I was invited to a church's missions conference so I add an event to the church and label it Missions Conference and then add the date and time starting and the date and time ending and mark the event as a public event.
Now another missionary can see that there is a missions conference going on at the church on a specific date and can call to ask to share his ministry during the conference. The user can then add himself as an attendee of the event and it would then show on his personal calendar.
