Hi Julian,
This was a toy project I did with my colleagues from fünf Digital Design https://www.thefunf.com/ when Covid lock downs were the hardest and we wanted to play around.
Yes it works only around Porto region, as fünf is based in Porto :) What did you have in mind, what sort of a collaboration did you have in mind? By the way it can also be something other than LoveLocal.
Best, Aras

Well, you said that shop lists is available only for Porto. But anyways I just wanted to reach out to collaborate with your project. (in case you did not read my Linkedin message) jmojico@gmail.com

Your initial idea is exactly what I was thinking: -Easy to use, attractive cards showing business around -Geolocated -Show Google Maps data like reviews, category and more.
Improvements I'm thinking: -Business owners can associate products to their business. -People can chat to the owner. -People can create their own shop and publish their products.
My concept idea and: There are many many shops and markets out of interne. Homegrown vegs, hand crafts, arts, local business, professions, and home services. That's why im building this webapp. It has te be useful for everyday purchases in town._
My motivations: We have been more than 100 days of lockdown here in Argentina, and there are probably a couple of months more to go. Lockdown is strict and people are not supposed to go more than 5 blocks away. While small local business are dying, big eCommerce merchants are getting richer and richer.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST Do you think you or anyone will continue contributing to this project in the future? I'm about to add some changes, and I'm considering splitting backend and frontend in different projects. So I need to know if start over or fork your project.
Cheers, Julian
Hi Julian,
After finishing the project we have realized the way that we used the GoogleMaps data is actually against the terms of use of Google. We have acquired the store data by scraping Google Maps. Using the store information (reviews, and other data) on any other website and offering as service is forbidden by Google. Since the project is non-profit Google might have been OK with that but we did not want to go into that hassle. So you need to be careful. But this is why we stopped working on the project.
Your improvement suggestions sound great. That was actually our initial plan, let the store owners fill the information by themselves and then add an owner dashboard. But to get going we had to have an initial store database. We couldn't find a way besides going door to door to these stores and asking them to join our platform and we couldn't do that due to time restrictions.
Please go ahead and fork the repo and see what you can do.
All the best, Aras
