This is a relatively minor feature request. The capabilities that nftables brings include, but are not limited to, more flexible rule replacement, friendlier reading, and aggressive new features to be added in the future

You mean replacing iptables with nftables? This is certainly not a minor feature request and requires a complete rewrite of AIF....
