Movie Search API !!! #166

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
It would be cool to access all the "Movie Search" info in an AJAX API way,
for example:

* Initializing the object with your Zip code + Country or from an address
(using geolocalization from maps?)
* Being able to query the object for:
  * Cinemas "close to me" within a specified range by the coder.
  * All Movies from a cinema
  * Data on a specific movie
    * Title
    * Original Title (this would be REALLY cool, but might not be possible)
    * Length
    * Showtimes
    * Average rating by critics (if available)
    * ... all sorts of cool information! Everything you have!
* Achieve the degree of easyness of the "Google Maps API" with some sort of
decent documentation :)

I hope you get some time to do this, I'd really like to have this API!

Don't forget to "Star" de suggestion if you'd like to see it eventually
implemented.

You can do so by clicking the little "star" icon at the left of the title
"Issue 166:
Movie Search API !!!".

Thanks for your support people!

I would love to have a movies search API for some of my sites. It would be
great
with any local info Web page for any city out there, just as an example. I'm
sure
other developers can come up with many other uses as well. Please open up a
Google
Movies Search API.  Thanks!

I've been coding some sort of scraping algorithm to "APIfy" the result pages so
I can
scan all the info, but I halted developing it.

Also, the guy from "Now Playing" iPhone app apparently has sorted it out (I
think he
uses google movies, but haven't checked). It's open source software, but didn't
have
the time to checkout his SVN yet :)

@s.m...@gmx.net don't have too much time as of yet, but yes. I'll release this
as a
PHP class, so anybody can use it and my hosting doesn't get slammed...

The problem is that screen-scraping is such a bad bad bad solution :( I don't
really
like this, and hope that google releases this API soon :)

I so badly want this. I want to include it in a small app on my phone and I
dont want
to fire up my browser for it. I know Google already has this on their site so
please
push it to the community. :)

This would be amazing to have as full blown API or even as an RSS feed of sorts.

It'd be awesome to have this API, and as #42 said, RSS output would be good as
well.
 MRSS would be even better.
