Suggestion: Search users by whom they replied to, plus UI customization and recency bias. #141

Summary: An expanding entry field in a soupcan settings tab to enter a time period in months, and empty text boxes (new box appears each time one is filled) to fill with twitter users to perform a search against replies made by any twitter account to any and all of those chosen accounts.

And of course a button the soupcan right click list.

(from:ACCOUNT) (to:ACCOUNT1 OR to:ACCOUNT2 OR to:ACCOUNT3 OR to:ACCOUNT4) until:XXXX-XX-XX since:XXXX-XX-XX

For example, it's very useful to know very quickly if any user we're investigating has every interacted directly with prominent trans equality accounts.

I find it very reliable if an account I suspect of being transphobic has interacted with Ktymotgmy, rojkwling, DrenArinen, formayastater, TheErinInMorn, AndZoBehold, MauJolyongham, GoodProjectLaw, aids_MermGender, and so on.

If an account has replied to more than one account on this list and I already suspect them of transphobia, evidence surely follows.

At the moment we have the option to "search for gender related keywords".

I have previously mused whether we could have a tab within the Soupcan Options page (after General, Content masking, Accessibility) with a series of text boxes into which we could insert our own custom words to be automatically added to this search string.

Another way twitter's search could be used could be by searching an account for it's replies to a list of users. Although its possible that one user could flood out the others in the results, simply remedied by altering the string in the search box to remove that user temporarily.

In effect a search for interactions with transgender AND transphobic accounts via the following twitter search strings

(from:ACCOUNT) (to:ACCOUNT1 OR to:ACCOUNT2 OR to:ACCOUNT3 OR to:ACCOUNT4) until:XXXX-XX-XX since:XXXX-XX-XX

To avoid targetting this search option should not contain any accounts by default, maybe default to shewotisnotbetonamed. It's a simple measure to enter a list of the most notorious twitter transphobies and a few of the more outspoken trans people and pro-individuals/organisations which often attract the transphobic trolls (eg goodlawgroup, mermaids).

When applying this search within an investigation this would produce an advanced search result showing only replies by the account in question to threads in which they reply to accounts on that soupcan users list of accounts they consider relevant.

There need not be more than 30 accounts to give space for 10 organisation, 10 transgender "minor celebrity/campaigners", and 10 anti-transphobe/feminist organisations).

The UI for entry of the list could also have a drop down "check back how many months?" with 0-12 where 0=all time.

For example, it's very useful to know very quickly if any user we're investigating has every interacted directly with prominent trans accouts, transphobic accounts.

Example string:

(from:ACCOUNT) (to:KatyMon///tgomerie OR to:ErinInT///heMorn OR to:AriDren///nen OR to:theFox///Fisher OR to:UglaSt///efania OR to:MForst//ater OR to:jk_ro//wling OR to:HJoyc//eGender OR to:ZoAn//dBehold OR to:IndiaWil//loughby OR to:JolyonMau//gham OR to:Proj///ectGoodLaw OR to:Merm///aids_Gender) until:2024-06-16 since:2023-01-01

Today I reported an account, and then checked it against this string. It has interactions with 8/13 of these accounts.

Quite reliable for separating malicious transphobes from ignorant transphobes.

To add to this, I was reviewing an account today and had concluded they might well be transphobic and looked deeper, upon checking their replies to I found a tweet in which they strongly chastised the famousbookauthor.
