[RESOLVED, but will still keep an eye on it] live-nhl.stream #10

Hi. I installed your filter for the first time today and it works well. But on one site too many issues with filter. Visually, the site is badly broken, more than 130 blocked objects. On live-nhl.stream ,please check if your filter is working correctly on it. Regards.

Your github user account disappeared for a few days, and the issue report went with it. A lot of content on that site is served from domains that are identified as trackers or malicious by a few different Russian ad-block and privacy lists, so I do have to look into it some more.

I think I've isolated the issue. There is of course legitimate content on that site, but a couple of the Russian ad-block sources I regularly pull from are indeed a bit too aggressive with it. You should still utilize caution when visiting the site in question, but I'm going to test some things out, and should have it resolved today.

OK. The issue with my list blocking some legitimate content on live-nhl.stream is resolved! I tested the site under both Brave and Firefox, with my filter list being the only one subscribed to, and everything works fine now.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and please remember to keep your GitHub account active after you've filed an issue, otherwise anything you may have posted will disappear, and I will not be able to track the reported issue.

P.S. I should also note that live-nhl.stream does not function correctly with certain DNS resolvers. Strangely enough, the site loads and works fine when using AdGuard DNS, but for some reason the site is basically broken when using Quad9's DNS resolvers.

Hi again.

Everything worked well until yesterday. The start page still works well. But a new problem has appeared.On the start page there are links to online broadcasts. So, after clicking on any link, the player stopped loading the broadcast. I checked it again because of your filter. Please investigate the issues and fix it.

A. You need to be a member to watch the streams. I'm not a member, so there's no real way for me to test. That being said, I at least can add an exception to my ABP/uBO filter to ensure that domains associated with the site are not blocked on the site. This should ensure that it doesn't happen again.

B. Most of the domains associated with this site are blocked by a number of trustworthy lists, and an established DNS resolver (Quad9). This means that I'm not going to whitelist items associated with the site without being very cautious, so you will have to wait a bit for me to explore this fully. Also, to be clear, it's not only my list which filters content on this site, many do.

My ABP/uBO filter lists will no longer block any content servers associated with live-nhl.stream, on live-nhl.stream, via exception rules which will be temporarily in place until I dig deeper into the larger issues with these sites and make a permanent decision regarding these domains and subdomains.

You can see this commit and this commit for reference. If you're still having problems with the site after updating your lists, then it's likely from another list, or the DNS resolver you use.

You don't have to be a member, streams are free and without registration. You just need to wait for the start of the match (the date and time in each link, indicated) and click on the link, the player will automatically start broadcasting. So you can actually test it. There is a nuance, maybe for this reason reliable lists block the domains of this site. When you open the player in full screen mode, it redirects you to the online shopping site once. But personally I do not face this problem, the Ghostery extension is blocking this redirect.

Good to know! And the exception rules have been added, so you should no longer have any issues, at-least with my list.

Unfortunately, the broadcasts did not work. I'm sure that your filter is cousing the issues. As example:when I removed your filter the translations work fine, when I turn on your filter the translations don't work. I don't want to argue with you. If you wish, you can personally check.All you need is to wait for the time any broadcast starts and run it. I do not see it as a big problem, since your filter works fine on other sites. And I going to add this site to whitelist.

Shoot. Well, I'll still have to look into it further. Whitelisting the site is a good idea for now.

Edit: Just visited the site again with only my list enabled. Video streams seem to be working fine. Examples here, here, and here. There definitely seem to be other things which could be causing issues on the site. Cache, cookies, DNS resolver, and frequent changes to the site can all be culprits. Will still keep an eye on this, but for now can only confirm that the site functions on this end.
