Italian translation request #6

Open Difonzo opened 6 years ago

Hi, I would like to try contribute to the translation of this amazing game. I'll say that I'll probably do this alone(I'll try to get help from a friend but nothing is certain). I'm not very used to GitHub but I'll do my best to learn how to use it(mainly because i also need to learn it for a pair of university courses i'm attending). Anyway I would like to request the IT.po file creation, so I can start. If I'm not skilled enough I'll understand the rejection, thanks in advance for your help.

brainfoolong commented 6 years ago

Ok, it.po added for you. Basic steps for github contribution here

  1. Fork the repository
  2. Make the changes in your fork.
  3. Create a pull request to bring it back to this repository

Good luck, and thanks.

Okay, here we are. I translated 6% (Tutorial) of the file ad I wanted to test it, but I can't seem to manage to create the .zip file for my language. I encountered some kind of problem with the script that creates packages. Is it because i didn't set any google translate key in the config.js? I saw that it's something you have to pay for(o activate the trial period) Also is there a way to execute the script from the node.js command line? I ended up downloading Visual Studio Code cause I've never used NodeJS before.

pilax commented 6 years ago

What kind of error do you have ? google translate key is facultative, don't bother with this ;)

Just download and install NodeJS, and restart your computer for take effect in Windows Command Line https://nodejs.org/en/

Follow instruction in the main page, and all will be good ;) Perhaps the main script doesn't fully support your language.

Hope that help you

The window with the errors used to close too soon to see what was happening. Now I managed to run the script in the cmd so I can see the errors. I made some errors editing the config file but now everything's fine. Thank you for the quick reply ;)

Hi, I don't want to bother anyone so I'll just ask here without opening a new issue. Now that the game was updated and the template too, do I have to begin again from scratch or is there a way to integrate what I've done so far into the new .po file with all the new lines?

brainfoolong commented 6 years ago

Just open up the .po file with PoEdit, than choose in the Menu something like "Update from Template", than you have to choose the "template.pot" file from the language folder. This will update your .po file with the new strings.

Difonzo commented 6 years ago

thank you very much, as I've already said it's the first time I'm using Poedit so i don't know the program very well

brainfoolong commented 6 years ago

No problem, ask what you have to ask.

brainfoolong commented 6 years ago

There is a new way of how to translate this project. Please do the following.

  1. Commit all your work, even if it's unfinished and create pull requests.
  2. When pull requests are done, i will merge them and convert the .po files to the new format
  3. I come back to you when all is done with a guide to how to translate from now
brainfoolong commented 6 years ago

Ok. Translation from now is different than before. Everything what is required is here -> https://github.com/brainfoolong/IntoTheBreachTranslations/tree/master/dev/editor

Hi, brainfoolong, I'm getting the italian translation going again (has been, like, abandoned, and i don't know how to contact the original translator) Hope i've done everything in the right way, as you explained. I'm using brains translation tool at the moment (cause i can't figure how to use NodeJS, actually 😄 ) There is an initial pull request, by now... but i think the work is way longer. Cheers!
