- we can probably clean up some of the class/id/tag highlighters,
  since we're matching those in order to un-highlight now

@brianc: generally, do you want me to wait for you to take a look at PRs and merge them yourself? Or are you OK with collaborators merging stuff you haven't had the time to look at?
