@nouveautestament, I'm not intimately familiar with this repo but I don't know what your comments mean. It would be helpful if you explained what you were expecting and what you see instead. If possible, point to specific files and lines of files if appropriate (even just by way of example if you're noting a common problem).
OK, so this is about +/
not being converted correctly.
In Matthew 3:3, we have )Hsai+/ou
:
https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/textonly-beta-code/MT.CCT#L53
The CSV contains: Ἠσαϊ ́ου
https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/csv-unicode/no-variants/MT.csv#L52
But it should probably be something like: Ἠσαΐου
.
Looking at https://github.com/perseids-tools/beta-code-py/blob/master/beta_code/vendor/beta-code-json/beta_code_to_unicode.json#L558, the converter expects /+
, not +/
.
I noticed the same thing happening today in Matthew 20:1 with +\
(prwi+\ -> πρωϊ`).
Text: https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/textonly-beta-code/MT.CCT#L651
CSV: https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/csv-unicode/no-variants/MT.csv#L650
And Matthew 21:5 with prau+\s -> πραϋ`ς: https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/textonly-beta-code/MT.CCT#L689 https://github.com/byztxt/byzantine-majority-text/blob/master/csv-unicode/no-variants/MT.csv#L688
Note: I did a quick search to find all the "plus-slash" words:
git grep -ho '[^ ]*[+][\\/][^ .,:]*' ../textonly-beta-code/ | sed 's/\r//' | sort -u | column
)gaqopoii+/a| bai+/a )Hsai+/a| Leui+\ Lwi+/di perii+/staso prau+/thti Prwi+\

)Axai+/as Gai+/w| Leui+/ Leui+/ths noi+\ pra|u+/thti prwi+\ Semei+/n
I'm not an expert in beta-code or Greek accents by any stretch, but I'm reassured to see that the +/ combination never appears next to other accents, which means a find/replace shouldn't cause any hidden breakages.
I believe this issue should be closed as per the fixes merged in #11
Thanks, @normansimonr, for letting me know. I will close it, now that you have signed off on this.
I am so glad you and @countingpine have come along. I hope we can get a community of maintainers going. This text and the accompanying resources are so important for feeding the Body of Christ.
