Let's try to collect all the issues most likely related to the new GIF PATH

I get the battle menu hang with mVU and with sVU here. Every battle in southern
thunder plains and 50% of the battles in northern thunder plains hang for me.

GH3 seems broken now again with:
GIFTAG error, size exceeded VU memory size 400
GIFTAG error, size exceeded VU memory size 419
GIFTAG error, size exceeded VU memory size 3ff
GS SIGNAL double throw encountered!

The only reason FFX worked in sVU is because sVU was buggy and caused many
other games to have GIFpath errors and caused the BIOS to boot at 0.02fps.
Since sVU has been "fixed" it now behaves the same as mVU in FFX.

Games regressed so far include:
Guitar Hero 3:
GIFTAG error, size exceeded VU memory size 3ff
GS SIGNAL double throw encountered!
FFX PAL/NTSC
Fixed, broken, fixed, broken. Current status: broken :p
The game doesn't show the battle menu most of the time.
Area to test is the southern thunderplains map though it happens irregularly in
other places, too.
Onimusha: Dawn of dreams
"Onimusha 4 black screen after mcd screen between r3366-r3388"
Soul Calibur 3:
Same cycle of status as FFX. Currently broken with these messages on bootup:
WARNING : Reset PC0
WARNING : Reset PC0
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus
Can be made to work with all ee timing set to 1 cycle instead of 8.

the user that reported the ffx bug says that r3284 worked correctly.
so most likely it was r3285 that broke it.

Anything printing this is regressed as of r3373, not r3274.

Final Fantasy VII: Dirge Of Cerberus
Can be made to work with all ee timing set to 1 cycle instead of 8.
with ee set manually set to 1 cycle (custom built) will allow game to load &
get to menu, however the major problem is r3274 broke most of the in-game
cutscenes / loading.

Guitar Hero 3: Fixed by 3404
Soul Calibur 3: Fixed by 3404
Onimusha 4:
Still not working but instead of nothing it now writes "libdma: sync timeout"
FFX:
Seems to hang less in battles, but I still got it to hang once in around 10
battles tried.

if the game never worked, can you not clog up this thread, this is for r3274+
issues introduced ONLY. If you have a game that never worked, make a bug
report on the forum or start a new issue.

Phantasy Star seems to be fixed by one of the latest revs (around rev 3555).
Original comment by ramapcsx2

Hmm, who wrote the GS stall control?
Quake hangs on that.
Doing pretty much anything else besides the code that's there now will fix
Quake :p

Zero wrote it :P I did the vif side, although i dont think its worked properly
for a long time.

Well, doing this here makes Quake happy:
//gif->tadr -= 16;
// Quake III revolution wants to see tadr move.
// -16 also seems right (it shifts the bg image right if anything else).
gif->tadr -= 16;
I don't know of any other games that hit the GS stall stuff, so I can't test
more..
Original comment by ramapcsx2

Eh, this is in Gif.cpp, line 384 ;)
Original comment by ramapcsx2
on 23 Jul 2010 at 12:19
ah yes, you might want to put
gif->qwc = 0;
in there too, just in case, this will make sure it keeps checking that code
till the condition is met (else it can overrun). otherwise it may just transfer.
whoever did the readtag stuff needs their hands slapping for not doing that :P
Original comment by refraction
on 23 Jul 2010 at 12:29
Well, I'm not planning on commiting this fix yet.
Quake hangs later on anyway, with the dreaded IPU BUSY problem (unskippable
FMV).

Ugh hate to bring this up again but Phantasy Star is still not fixed it still
hangs.
To encounter the hang simply start a new phantasy star 4 game and in the first
scene where you can move open the menu and press&hold the down button to cycle
through options after some time the game hangs. r3607 here.

Interesting. And yeah, I could reproduce it.
You're sure it broke by r3274?
Original comment by ramapcsx2

YES i'm 100% sure i have both r3273 works and r3274 is broken.

Ok, looking at it again.
The thing is that 3274 caused many issues with this game, and some got fixed
lately.
So it'll be hard to figure out which it is :/
