forgot about this post...
anyways this game doesn't seem to need the SkipMPEGHack hack in the game
database anymore.
Serial = SLUS-20735
Name = Lethal Skies 2
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
SkipMPEGHack = 1
(I couldn't find anymore info on why it was added, in my test the intro movie
played fine and the first 3 levels so it seems fine without it.)

My own copy of the game still needs it, I also remember someone else in the
forums telling the game only booted with latest SVN (latest at the time and
against r4600) which was including the GameDB forced setting so I guess it's
better to leave it.
Would be interesting to know why it's not working for us but works for you tho
:p

hm that's strange do you have the ntsc version? I tried to mess with settings
to see if i could break it from booting but it always started up (everything
default and no speedhacks or gamefixes)
http://i51.tinypic.com/9aofb7.jpg
the only thing I can think of is maybe there is different revisions of the game
(software versions)
or perhaps the bios used with pcsx2 has something to do with it in my case my
ps2 had this bios.
USA v02.20(10/02/2006) Console
ELF (cdrom0:\SLUS_207.35;1) Game CRC = 0xF523DBC9, EntryPoint = 0x00100008
(SYSTEM.CNF) Software version = 1.00

I got the Fallout BrotherHood of Steel to work by putting the renderer DirectX
3d9/10 to software and i was able to see the other half of the screen with the
HUD but the graphics is still a bit messed up and it does run between 5-15 FPS

Van Helsing (at least ntsc-u) needs:
EETimingHack = 1
to enter the main menu. Otherwise it hangs on a black screen right before it
loads the menu. Please add this to the db.

Blade 2 Data should change as below:
Serial = SLUS-20360
Name = Blade 2
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
EETimingHack = 1
EE Timing hack only is needed form R4821 and later versions.
also Forever kingdom can change as below:
Serial = SLUS-20343
Name = Forever Kingdom
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 4
SkipMPEGHack = 1
note that SkipMPEGHack is only needed for skiping menu mpeg that cause freezing
and after that it can be disabled

I played this game fully with SVN4940 and it didn't need "SkipMPEGHack". so it

New request.
Added "EETimingHack = 1" to "Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb
(SLUS-20508)", since all other disc-versions of this game have it.
Added "EETimingHack = 1" to "Drakan - The Ancients' Gates [Demo] (SCUS-97169)",
since it was missing it.
Improved the fix for "Drakan - The Ancients' Gates (SCES-50006)".
Made textout-messages about widescreen support from the lists by devina40.
Minor "data-stuff".

Could you explain what you mean by "skewed"? What do you want to say in those
comments?
It would either be "has skewed widescreen support", or "has widescreen support
but it is/looks skewed".
Original comment by ramapcsx2.code
on 31 Dec 2013 at 12:50
Actually, I took the Widescreen & Skewed info from the list by devina40.
I don't know myself what she means by skewed.
If the disc has a build in (though skewed) Widescreen-support through the BIOS,
the textout is "This gamedisc have a skewed Widescreen-support through the BIOS configuration.",
and if it has a Widescreen-support through the GameMenu (though skewed),
the textout is "This gamedisc have a skewed Widescreen-feature.".
And a new version of the patch: Better fixes for "Drakan 2 (PAL)" & "Project
Zero 3 (PAL)".

Skewed I believe means you're using the same amount of pixels, but the aspect
ratio of image is changed. It stretches horizontally to achieve a widescreen
image without needing more pixels. I learned about this during my time of xbox
testing. You can have a widescreen image from a 640x480 signal (it looks
squeezed when rendered in 4:3), you just have to change the TV (bios in this
case?)to 16:9 and with the "skewed" image, it'll look widescreen.
Original comment by wespipe...@gmail.com
on 8 Jan 2014 at 7:44
Skewed = more or less stretched seems probable.
I (or you - the applier of the patch) could change Skewed into Stretched,
however since devina40 compiled the list I would prefer keeping Skewed.

I just noticed there are render fixes for Drakan already in the live database
and new fixes for Project Zero.
I don't remember if we ever voted or even discussed adding upscale hacks,
renderer improvements and similar to the gamefixes database.
Who is going to remove these patches, once a plugin is fixed?
Are these patches harmless? They are being automatically loaded by default
after all.
Original comment by ramapcsx2.code
on 15 Mar 2014 at 10:27
The same can be said about the regular fixes :P.
The submitter ought to have some interest in checking
if fixes are beneficial as new revisions are posted (nothing guaranteed).
The fixes for Drakan 2 and Project Zero 3 does to my knowledge
not affect anything secondary.
Original comment by pg...@yahoo.se
on 15 Mar 2014 at 11:57
Regular patches so far are for fixing hangs/crashes or other serious bugs.
Renderer fixes on the other hand are a cosmetic feature. In this case they
change the game even if software rendering is used, possibly breaking that mode
in some scenes.
I realize the benefit of these hacks but the game database was not meant for
them.

If you are considering an "Automatic Specialfixes" option for non-critical &
misplaced fixes,
this is what I've extracted from GameIndex & cheats_ws.
Things like "Remove blackbars" can also be added (for correctness).
