The monospace font currently renders at a smaller size than the general body text, which gives it a sort of pinched look and makes it harder to read by comparison.
The default size used in the ubuntu.com documentation is slightly larger so that the monospace font appears the same size as the body text, which makes it look more seamless.
Making the code/monospace font slightly larger (to be the same size as the body text) would be a good visual improvement, most likely through custom CSS
