Cable length layout in dendrogram

I've long thought enriching the dendrogram (perhaps borrowing some features like this one from NeuroLines) would make a well-scoped project for a GSoC student, contractor, or new part-time contributor. It would also be valuable for visualizing and controlling splits/sub-compartments in skeleton models, which is on the main development agenda.

Additionally, it would be interesting to explore the usefulness of labeling the synapses, with cyan/red colors for pre and post.

Albert, when you say "labeling", do you suggest coloring the pre/post-synaptic nodes of the dendrogram with cyan/red?
