Submit your add-ons in this issue, thanks for your contribution! Submission template:

**Title:**
**Description:** (a short description to be shown on the addon download window)
**Proposed category:** (pick one of the existing categories (https://celestia.mobi/resources/), or suggest a new one)
**Demo Object Name:** (optional, the name of the main object used for Go to command)
**Author(s):**
**Release date:** (The date this add-on is released. If left empty, will be the date the add-on is uploaded here)
**Link to download:** (Please use zip to package the addon)
**Image:** (optional, no UI control element, HUD display, label. Avoid using "tall" pictures (height > width))
**Thumbnail:** (optional, by default will be the downscaled version of Image if present, so unless you want something different to show as a thumbnail, leave it empty)
**Additional metadata:** (optional, this can be anything that web supports. Link, image, audio, video, text, attributed text, cel URL, cel/celx scripts, embedded stuff (for example a YouTube video)...)

For updates to existing add-ons, please attach the link to the add-on and only include updated fields from the template.

For removal of add-ons, please attach the link too.

Check before uploading an add-on

Your add-on will be running on Android/iOS/macOS/Windows, to enable maximum compatibility, please ensure that

  1. files names referenced in models, ssc, dsc files, etc are exactly the same as the actual file names (some file systems are case sensitive. For example if in your .ssc there is Mesh "Progress.cmod", then the file name should be exactly Progress.cmod not progress.cmod).
  2. Textures should have width/height of power of 2 (for example: 1024 512, a texture of 1000 500 will not work on many mobile devices).
  3. If your add-on requires specific Celestia versions, please mention in the description. Please also ensure that your add-on should not crash running on other versions.
  4. If you are updating an existing add-on, note that existing users will not see an update button, so it might be a good idea to include version history in the description.
  5. Please try to use smaller files for image/thumbnail/other metadata. For example, use JPG if alpha value is not needed.

Honestly, I'm not sure whether I put 'Oumuamua into either Asteroids & NEOs or Comets category. But decided to put it onto the former anyway

Title: 1I/'Oumuamua Description: 'Oumuamua is the first known interstellar object ever discovered. It is about 100 x 1000 m in length and 230 x 35 x 35 m wide, resembling a flat pancake. It made its closest approach to the Sun just 40 days before it was discovered by the Pan-STARRS telescope in Hawaii

(NOTE: This modifies the default version of 'Oumuamua)

@SpaceExplorer2008 the demo object names seem incorrect. I've changed to the ones inside ssc file. If no release date is given, I will set the release date to the day it is uploaded here.

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

@levinli303 You can use the current date.

DaveBowman2001 commented 2 years ago

No, that would be impossible for now, and given how slow the probes are to reach just a single light-year, the resulting file would be too large to be usable, but the uploaded version of New Horizons actually moves beyond the 1 light-year mark already (try fast-forwarding until it disappears on screen, and when it does, it already passed more than a light-year from the sun)

levinli303 commented 2 years ago

@DaveBowman2001 the ISS addon seems to have some issues. Some textures are not loaded, you can turn on the console to see the error log. For example: iss_03.dds is referenced in ESP-1.cmod however, there is only iss_03.png now.

@levinli303 The five spacecrafts addons that I will post just below are updated addons. They are models with normal maps.

Title: New Horizons Description: New Horizons is a NASA/APL space probe that was launched as a part of NASA's New Frontiers program. It was launched in 2006 with the primary mission to perform a flyby study of the Pluto system in 2015, and a secondary mission to fly by and study one or more other Kuiper belt objects (KBOs) in the decade to follow, which became a mission to 486958 Arrokoth in 2019. It is the fifth space probe to achieve the escape velocity needed to leave the Solar System. Title: Lunar Reconaissance Orbiter Description: The Lunar Reconaissance Orbiter (LRO) is a NASA space probe launched in 2009-Jun-18 and sent to a polar orbit around the Moon to collect data from the lunar surface to aid future manned and robotic missions there. It is still currently active as of 2022, making it the longest lunar mission ever attempted.

Title: Clementine Description: Clementine (officially called the Deep Space Program Science Experiment) was a joint space project between the Ballistic Missile Defense Organization and NASA, launched on 1994-Jan-25. Its objective was to test sensors and spacecraft components in long-term exposure to space and to make scientific observations of both the Moon and the near-Earth asteroid 1620 Geographos, however the mission failed to fulfill the latter objective as the spacecraft lost control en route Proposed category: Spacecraft Demo Object Name: Clementine Author(s): toutatis Release date: 2021-07-11 Link to download: Clementine.zip Image: 20220219_155525

@SpaceExplorer2008 please read the guide for updating an addon. You should only include updated fields, and a link to the original addon. By the way please do not include description.json in the addon, this is used internally by Mobile Celestia to keep track of installed addons, also consider uploading preview images in higher resolution.

SpaceExplorer2008 commented 2 years ago

@levinli303 I will read the guides later.

The addon images I insert here are screenshots. Then it comes out in a good resolution. However, it is a very large image, which in my opinion would not be appropriate to use an image of such a size. That's why I crop the images to focus only on the desired object. Sometimes in this operation it happens that the resolution is lower. I can't improve this. But I think that the individual who downloads an addon should not care too much about the resolution of the image.

UPDATE ADDON: Since "J u n o" is too ridiculous and "Juno Spacecraft" is a very long name, so it was renamed to "Juno probe" which is a shorter name. There are also minor addon changes and Metadata updates.

Title: Juno Description: Juno is an active NASA spacecraft currently in polar orbit around Jupiter since 2016, the second spacecraft to do so after Galileo. Launched in 2011, its mission is to measure Jupiter's composition, gravitational field, magnetic field, and polar magnetosphere. It will also search for clues about how the planet formed, including whether it has a rocky core, the amount of water present within the deep atmosphere, mass distribution, and its deep winds Proposed category: Spacecraft Demo Object Name: Juno probe Author(s): Art Blos, toutatis Release date: 2021-12-22 Link to download: juno probe update.zip Image: 151967580-fd9bc940-9b4b-411e-8f97-49c2290fa541

Title: 1SWASP J140747.93-394542.6 Description: Popularly known as J1407, it is a K-type main-sequence star about 454 light-years away in the constellation Centaurus. It has a super-Jovian planet or brown dwarf with the largest ring system ever discovered, measured at a whopping 90 million km (about 745 times larger than the rings of Saturn). Not needed @SpaceExplorer2008, the asteroids were intentionally made into separate addons from Lucy for the users who do not want to have additional spacecraft in their installations. Will do the same with Rosetta, NEAR, and Deep Space 1 later on

I put them all together by the fact that a person who lowered Lucy could forget about any of the asteroids. But I think your idea is better now, I'll leave it as before.

I'll give you some suggestions: In the Rosetta addon, you can separate the 2867 Steins and the 21 Lutetia, but please keep the 67P Churymov-Gerasimenko together with Rosetta, after all, the latter was the main target of the mission.

In the OSIRIS-REx addon, please keep the asteroid Bennu, and if you upload Hayabusa-2 in the future, keep the asteroid Ryugu

I agree with your proposals with these objects.
