How Do I Translate Metrics to Another Language?
First of all, we really appreciate your generosity of putting efforts in contributing to CHAOSS metric translations!
Set up the translation team
- To get started, you need a translation group (3~4 people will do) who are familiar with both English and the language you wish to translate to.
- Create a new issue, in which you can provide the GitHub handles of your group.
- Call maintainers to set up the team (e.g., @chaoss/[language]-translators) and grant permissions.
Before translation
- Create a new folder named after the language under the root directory.
- Create sub-folders organized by working groups and focus areas.
- Note that you need to organize the metric files and add the 'Focus Area' table, for the convenient of auto-releases.
- Reach @CHAOSS/Mars project for more concerns.
Translating released metrics
- For metrics who are already released, simply translate/revise the metrics, and submit PRs.
- Call peer translators to review.
Translating under-review metrics
- For metrics who are ready to release, there is always a 30-day community review period, which is also a sprint time for the tranlsation team in order to catch up the new release with the English version. (But it's ok if not!)
- New metrics would be submitted as issues by maintainers from each working group, with labels of different language.
- Claim your interest if you want to translate a metric, so other people won't do duplicate work.
- Translate metrics, submit one PR per metric.
- Once the PR is merged, remove the correspond language label on the issue.
- Leave the issue open if not all the language labels are clear.

Core Contributors
The criteria for becoming a core contributor is to participate at least once per month over a period of 3 months. Participation could include providing feedback in the Translations working group meetings, providing feedback on docs, or making other contributions on GitHub (commits / issues). People not participating over a 3 month period may be removed as core contributors.
If you'd like to be on our squad, an easy way to start is by going through the issue list and fixing some or adding to the conversation.
