What vocabulary terms should be used to distinguish the different techniques and occupations documented? #76
The technique used in the production of an object,
The technique used by an actor but not associated with the production of an object,
The occupation of an actor.
For example, the technique "watercolor painting" could be linked to the production of a specific artwork, the technique "watercolor painting" could be linked to an actor without being linked to the production of an object, and an actor could have an occupation of "watercolorist" when documenting a biographical event.
It seems obvious that the technique used in the production of an object should be documented with terms from "Processes and Techniques", while the occupation of actors should be documented with terms from "People by occupation".
The question here is, if we rely solely on the AAT, what vocabulary terms should be used to document the technique linked directly to an actor:
Should it be from "Processes and Techniques", and therefore associate techniques to actors
Should it be from "People by occupation", and therefore associate practices to actors
Should we use another term, different from techniques and occupations?
What is implied in this question is: what is the meaning of the technique associated with actors? Do we see it as techniques that are only linked to actors, or is it another kind of information, distinct from techniques employed in the production of objects?
