[EDIT] Latest commit of https://github.com/chipsenkbeil/choose/commit/66e0f51869aa0e936bceb952854f8df502193639 may address this. It uses colors that work across light and dark modes.

Feel free to report whether or not it works for you. If not, we can revisit.
