Forestry has and wants to make the most of TreePlotter Tree Inventory software. We are in the early stages of creating work flows, but questions remain about which system is best for which work task. We currently collect tree data and track progress for sidewalk clearance in ArcGIS. CSRs are managed in Maximo and tickets for contractors are generated as PDFs. TreePlotter enables online management of contractor tickets, including tools for invoicing.

About 50,000 tree data points have been added to TreePlotter out of an estimated 330,000 public trees in the ROW. Pricing data for the city-wide tree contract has also been added. We have a few in-house tutorials, including data upload and contractor ticket creation.

It would be great to meet with the new IT support team to review Forestry practices and needs. It would be great to determine if TreePlotter stands up as system of record for the ~$1B of public trees in the ROW. In the fullness of time, it may come to pass that integrating tree inventory management with Maximo will be worthwhile.

FYI - John will likely be reaching out regarding scheduling he is trying to coordinate between the vendor and DTS sometime in October. He is also trying coordinate a meeting with Alan and Keith at DSD to get some background on how they are using tree plotter.

10/13 - Project Update

From talking with Christina and Andrew, this is the status of the Tree Plotter Implementation

• [x] Geospatial locations of legacy PWD trees we loaded into Tree Plotter - worked with Bryan T.

Action Items

• Andrew was doing knowledge transfer with Bryan when he was doing the import

Things we know

• They've talked about various options on how to maintain geospatial tree data, but have not actually tested it. This seems to be what Andrew will be tackling soon.
• Christina has done a deep dive on the Urban Forestry work flow processes and is evaluating the product, Tree Plotter so we can determine if it will be sufficient for their work management process.

Staff Resources

• However, there has been recent staffing changes in the Urban Forestry group. Lisa (DM), has lost a staff member to retirement and another to a division transfer leaving no other leadership positions in her group at this time.
• We have heard rumors that Urban Forestry thinks that Christina is taking over John's position/roles, but Andrew's tried to assure them of her role and it's not that.
