Transforming the SR into a User Story:
Implement an application and tracking platform for permit Holders
The Mobility Services division is transitioning to a fully digital retention system and seeks to streamline the permitting process across multiple industries.
The goal is to adopt a unified platform, similar to the existing KNACK system used for Smart Mobility and previously for RPP permitting, to simplify and enhance the permitting process for Holders.
This platform will enable Holders to manage their permits comprehensively, including application submission, document review, real-time process tracking, fleet management, and Chauffeur Permit renewal.

Goal: Division is going digital.

Now that we've done preliminary scoping with Mobility Services and have set up an ongoing sprint cadence with them, we'll continue to document requests, discussion, and feedback in this rolling meetings doc, and will create Issues for the different industries to be included in the Product.
Our office has recently gone completely digital with our retention, and we are interested in streamlining the permitting process for multiple industries that our Division permits.
Our office currently utilizes KNACK for the Smart Mobility permitting process, and we used to also use KNACK for RPP permitting. We would like to implement a similar permitting platform for the Holders.
The solution will be successful when a Holder can log in to the KNACK, and from one location be able to create an account, apply for their operating authority, submit documents for review, and see real-time process tracking. They can view their current fleets and see when inspections are due and how far out their fleets are permitted. The Holder could also renew their Chauffeur Permit if they wanted

We currently use paper applications and receive them either in person or via email. Everything is printed or on paper, reviewed, verified, and scanned back in. Once approved the combined PDF is sent to the supervisor. Once approved, documents are saved in the company's electronic file on the G: drive. Same with any other application that is for permits that our office issues.
I would rather this be completed and accurate to what our division needs, versus putting a timeframe on the completion of this project.
I am not sure, however, we need to advance into a more modern approach to not just permitting, but also in the current processes.
