Repair Banners interactive map links #16340

Closed atdservicebot closed 4 months ago

What application are you using?

ArcGIS

Describe the problem.

The link to the LPB interactive map on our website is not loading and hasn't been for the past week. Several people have tried it and had the same issue.

Is there anything else we should know?

Customers have emailed asking why the map isn't working. They can't select districts for their applications without referencing it.

2024-03-21: Worked with Diana M today to troubleshoot this issue. This is the Street Banners website where the public and organizations can make reservations to put up street banners. In the Lamppost Banners dropdown near the bottom, there is a link to See an interactive map

For reasons that are currently unknown the link is no longer working, aka the web map that the link directs do has stopped loading. We think there is a larger issue at play here with ESRI / ArcGIS Online, but we don’t know what the problem is yet.

So we have an interim solution. We have made an urgent request to PIO to replace the “See an interactive map” link to navigate to this new location. However, this is a very simplified version of the previous application without that doesn't have the full functionality needed

In addition, I have booked an appointment with an ESRI solution engineer for Friday, 2024-03-22, 2:00-2:30 to address the issue, as well as submitted a CTM ticket to escalate the issue to ESRI if the solution engineer isn't able to fix the issue on Friday.

Subject: ESRI AGOL issue, TPW Banners reservation story map has stopped working Product: ArcGIS Online Version: N/A OS Name: N/A OS Locale: English - United States - (en-US)

Description: We've had a StoryMap crash this week. This is a public facing web map used to reserve banners on lampposts. It won't load on the city website, and we can't even open it for configuration in AGOL. In the interim we have created a rudimentary solution, but it doesn't have the full functionality needed. We want to know why this is happening and what we can do to repair this.

Here is the application in AGOL: https://austin.maps.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=b0e65307b3514804901519d911aeb158

On Friday, 2024-03-22, Diana, Grant, Patrick and I met with Pamela K during an Esri office hours meeting to discuss this issue. Long story short, we reviewed everything and she confirmed that we would need to escalated this to an Esri premium technical support specialist.

Diana, Grant, and I met with premium technical support specialist today, Tuesday, 2024-03-26. However, this was not the type of meeting we anticipated. They were not able to help nor access the web application / map series StoryMap. They will be scheduling another meeting with a dev

GimnichD commented 5 months ago

After many back and forth emails, we were told that since this was a depreciated StoryMap template (although not retired until 2025), Esri premium technical support will not be offering us any technical support to restore the lost web application.

However, they recommended that we use ArcGIS Online Assistant to download the JSON file of the app and extract the content that we will need in creating a new StoryMap. Diana M. was able to use this process and extract the missing district descriptions.

Rebuild Priority

GimnichD commented 4 months ago

The links on the public facing Banners site have been temporarily fixed with a stopgap map. Creating a better up-to-date solution will be transferred to a new ticket: Rebuilding Street Banner Web Apps #16740
