What did you do to resolve the issue

Background

Matthew-M-TPW commented 4 months ago

The computer is to old to update to Windows 11 It also does not have TPM2 due it age and this is a requirement for Windows 11

Matthew-M-TPW commented 3 months ago

Notified @dianamartin that machine can not be upgraded to Windows 11. DTS is looking at options for replacement.

Placing in in needs additional scoping

Matthew-M-TPW commented 2 weeks ago

Asked @dianamartin to purchase these hard drives.

We need a device onsite just in case the facility loses its internet connection. This would allow the cameras to continue recording.
The fire at Townview proved the need to record on each camera for 24 hours. Currently, the cameras are set for motion detection. A camera did not record the fire coming in and destroying it during the fire. To record 24 hours a day we need additional storage. When I talked to Trenton F. he recommended some machines that we can purchase to store the data and manage the camera system. He also recommended that we have a power processor and graphics card to operate the camera system.

Peggy emailed Tyler to confirm

Hi Tyler, We are unable to upgrade the operating system for the current computer that manages the video at Townview. We have reviewed the specifications to upgrade and replace the security camera computer and think it is time to move to the standards BSD is using. This would be approximately $9K for the computer replacement and we would retire the current system. Are you ok with us moving forward with this

Tyler had some questions

Hi Peggy, I don’t take any exceptions to the proposal and generally defer to your team’s expertise for projects such as this. Just a couple of questions: • Do I need to identify an FDU source and if so, is the encumbrance hitting FY24 or FY25? • Will the new server still be located at Harold Ct or will it be hosted offsite? • Do you anticipate any difference in operating performance?

I replied

Hi Tyler, We were asking you to make sure that going this approach is what would be best for the department and divisions at Townview. We had learned that the legacy technology team had built the existing computer for the camera system to have fiscal savings. We’d like to upgrade the computer so we can update to Windows 11 and also offer more features for the stakeholders. We’re hoping to avoid the situations where we don’t have footage when an incident arises.

Here are some answers to your questions.

  • Do I need to identify an FDU source and if so, is the encumbrance hitting FY24 or FY25?
I think DTS’s budget can cover this, but to ensure this is what the stakeholders would want. Peggy, correct me if I’m wrong on this one.

  • Peggy said: Yes that is correct.

  • Will the new server still be located at Harold Ct or will it be hosted offsite? It’s not a new server, it’ll just be a new computer tower.
Peggy said: It will be at Harold Court and will be updated and upgraded like any other desktop for the department.

  • Do you anticipate any difference in operating performance? We anticipate that with the newer computer specifications, it will allow for the ability to do 24 hr camera surveillance and have a local retention of up to 3 months.
