[Enhancement] Refactored Signal and PHB Ranking Functionality #2785

Open atdservicebot opened 4 years ago

atdservicebot commented 4 years ago

In Project: Data-Informed Pedestrian Signal Prioritization, DTS worked with AMD to develop a data driven process to prioritize locations for pedestrian hybrid beacon installation. Using various sources for data, we developed criteria to map and identify the street segments where we should consider a PHB. This data is compiled and mapped in GIS.

We would like to have this GIS data interface with Data Tracker so we can track and communicate locations for study and push data to the public.

Describe the solution you have in mind. Work with DTS staff to identify modifications to existing data tracker pages and data and identify if other data is needed in data tracker.

How will we know that our solution is successful? If we are able to track identified locations for study and make this information publicly accessible

Jen D.

Level of Effort 20 hours each from Knack builders, Devs, and PM. 10 hours from GIS analyst.

Timeframe Not immediately blocking anyone’s work, but would have ideally by Dec 2020.

Requested by Renee O., AMD Request ID: DTS20-100735

dianamartin commented 4 years ago

@jaime-mckeown Is this something you were working with Renee on?

jaime-mckeown commented 4 years ago

@dianamartin Yes, it started with Renee asking for a map, then it turned into asking for lots of changes to Data Tracker to integrate the new PHB process. John told me to have Renee submit a new request for the Knack changes.

Would want to switch out Signal Requests to Studies or Locations.

@jaime-mckeown - don't expect you to do anything with this request, but wanted to make you aware that we'll be doing some Knack work to support Data-Driven PHB Ranking. ;)

amenity commented 4 years ago

@johnclary - can you provide a general level of effort assessment for this?🙏

(& while you're at it, maybe notes here.)

johnclary commented 4 years ago

I estimate 20 knack builder hours, 20 dev hours, 20 pm hours, 10 GIS hours.

johnclary commented 4 years ago

Updated the AMD doc accordingly. Thanks.

johnclary commented 4 years ago

added to doc:

Based on discussion with Renee, we estimate 20 hours each from knack builders, devs, and PM. 10 hours from GIS analyst. Our understanding is that this is not immediately blocking anyone’s work, but would have ideally by Dec 2020. (correct us, AMD, if we’re wrong).

johnclary commented 4 years ago

@amenity note that this could be a good one for JD

amenity commented 4 years ago

@johnclary - let's catch up on this one ... I should tell Renée if we know we won't be able to do it in time.

amenity commented 4 years ago

Spoke with @johnclary and this is too heavy a lift for us to tackle for the 2020 round of PHB ranking. He's going to email AMD to let them know where we're at.

$status_update

We’ve collected requirements for refactoring both the PHB ranking process and the signal ranking process. Diana is meeting with Renee again this morning to get clarification on the PHB ranking process. We are focusing on Data Tracker improvements and may temporarily take the Signal Request Dashboard and public dataset offline while we update those assets to capture the program updates.

amenity commented 4 years ago

@johnclary is going to update this.

johnclary commented 3 years ago

Currently waiting for Renee to give us the go-ahead to proceed with the Data Tracker updates for signals scoring.

amenity commented 3 years ago

@johnclary - let us know if there's anything @dianamartin can help with here.

From 6/1/21 AMD P&P Meeting

We've begun work to migrate the data publication to our new automated process. Meeting with Renee again this week to review some proposed changes to the data structure.

amenity commented 2 years ago

@johnclary - would you mind converting this to a project index?
