Tyler showed me what he was able to put together from the coding challenge and it's clear he could jump in and contribute right away.
I suggested that for a first project, he try to get the transportation.austintexas.io repo running locally with Jekyll and Webpack. From there he could port over some of the features he built in his coding challenge and add to the dockless data dashboard. He may reach out to Jason Redfern's team about other features/improvements.
Sounds like there still needs to be some formal approval with Gilda and Marissa. @johnclary once all of that is sorted out, perhaps we should talk about the best ways to incorporate him into team meetings and processes, for example Slack.
Tyler is looking for opportunities to expand his dev skills and grow his portfolio. As a FTE with the City, we could get him to join us for a set hours per week.
This issue is to capture the meeting/notes/discussion around this opportunity
