IT Support: Submitted CTM Ticket for integration with MS Graph API #6027

INC0100292

Ticket Details:

ATD's Smart Mobility division is partnering up with Duke University to analyze remote work improvements and provide solutions. One being sending an automated individual message via MS teams using MS Graph API and a SharePoint file.

This study has been completed with LA Metro and Duke University, but LA Metro got assistance from Microsoft reps to do configuration. All related documents about study/research are attached to this request. Just want to know if ATD/Duke University would be able to configure this. The participants in the pilot study would be limited to ATD employees. This method of using MS Graph API was successful and recommended by the Microsoft support teams that LA Metro/Duke University worked with.

If more information is required a remote meeting can be arranged with Duke University researchers to explain requirements. If this is not possible, an alternative method is needed in order to do this pilot. Please email Shelby S. who is the ATD Point of Contact for Smart Mobility and cc: Diana M. on communications.

Talked with Danny C., had him reach out to Shelby to get her up to speed on what it might take to get the integration approved and configured.'

Just talked to Danny at the Helpdesk. Here’s some info:

• Has to go to a board to go through approval process since it will affect all of COA. They meet monthly. • Also will need Legal approval. • Will be managed by IT individual in ATD who will need complete registration. • Will need work hours from Microsoft to assist with setting this up. • Cost: $75-$85 a month • Timeframe of 3-6 weeks. I’d love your feedback, Diana…but I’m kind of leaning towards pulling this tool as an option due to cost, timeline, and the increased workload it would put on your team.

my reply

Hi Shelby,

I talked with Danny briefly this morning and he was telling me about the potential process that this might have to go through, I told him it’d be best to talk with you about it too. I think that based on the timeline you’re trying to meet to get this pilot off the ground, a month from now, pursuing the MS Graph API integration will be too difficult to get done by then. Unfortunately, pursuing the integration will likely delay your kick off timeline and be more cumbersome to manage for both your group and our team. I agree that we probably shouldn’t pursue this request any further. If you’re in agreement, I can reach out to Danny and cancel this request so it doesn’t get escalated.

For future project partnerships that may require similar integrations or need research/discovery from the DTS team or CTM, we will need be start those tasks/conversations sooner so that we have ample time for configurations if it is necessary.

Shelby's final response

Thanks, Diana! That sounds good to me.
Yes for sure! This was a learning opportunity for me. Thank you for all of your help and support!
